TLoK Spirit of the Wild: Prologue

Earth...
Fire...
Air...
Water...
When I was a boy, my father, Avatar Aang, told me the story of how he and his friends heroically ended the Hundred Year War. Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko transformed the Fire Nation colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a society where benders and non-benders from all over the world could live and thrive together in peace and harmony.
They named the capital of this great land, Republic City. Avatar Aang accomplished many remarkable things in his life. But sadly, his time in this world came to an end. And like the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of the Avatar began anew.
(Air Temple Island...)
It was a dark night as Tenzin lit up some lanterns in the hallway. “It’s a beautiful night, isn’t it?” He turned and smiled to see his wife, Pema walking over to him. “Yes, indeed.” He replied as she leaned against him and took his hand.
They stared up into the night sky, the full moon shining down on them. “Isn’t it peaceful, Pema?” Tenzin asked as they snuggled together. “Just the two of us, alone in the moonlight.” Pema giggled. “Still, it would be fun to hear the sounds of little footsteps in the temple.”
“Pema...” Tenzin chuckled as the couple snuggled closer. “Master Tenzin...” The couple turned to see an Air Temple Acolyte walking towards them. “Forgive me for disturbing you, but there’s something you need to see.” The couple raised an eyebrow. “What is it?” Tenzin asked.
“Master, it’s something you have to see for yourself.” The Acolyte insisted. Surprised and a little confused, they followed her to the main hall. As soon as they entered it, “Waaah!!!” The couples were surprised when they saw an elderly Air Acolyte with a strange bundle in her arms.
“Master Tenzin...Lady Pema...” The old Acolyte spoke before showing them the bundle. To Tenzin’s and Pema’s absolute shock, the ‘bundle’ turned out to be a baby boy with black hair, about a month old. He was wrapped in a swaddling blanket and was crying. “Waaah!! Waaah!!”
“Oh, the poor thing...” Pema exclaimed, rushing over and taking the baby in her arms. “Shhh...Shhh, it’s okay, little one.” She soothed the infant, rocking him gently. “H-How?” Tenzin spluttered. “W-Where did he come?”
“We don’t know.” The Acolyte replied. “We found him on the doorstep of the temple, there was no one else around.” “This was the only thing that was found on him.” She added, handing Tenzin a note. When he looked at it, all he found was a name. “Conan...” he whispered to himself. “So that is your name...”
“Conan...” Pema parroted as she looked down at the baby, who stopped crying and looked at her with bright, blue eyes. The baby gurgled and squealed, reaching out with his tiny hands. Pema smiled gently when she saw this. “Aww~” She cooed. “Aren’t you sweet~?”
Tenzin cracked a smile as he approached his wife. “Where did you come from, little one?” He asked the baby softly, gently caressing it’s head. The baby squealed and grabbed hold on Tenzin’s hand, making him chuckle.
Suddenly, he noticed something on the baby’s arm. It was a strange birthmark of some-sort, resembling the claws on a wild animal. “That’s odd.” he muttered, staring at the strange mark. “What kind of mark is that?”
“Tenzin...” The Air-Bending Master looked at his wife who stared at him with a look of longing in her eyes. Tenzin quickly realized what she was planning. “Pema, no...” He explained. “Tenzin, please...” Pema pleaded with her husband.
“Pema, we don’t know where he came from,” Tenzin tried to explain. “or if his parents are looking for him.” “Besides, raising a child is a heavy responsibility,” he added. “how can we be ready for-”
“Tenzin” The latter flinched when he saw Pema’s stern look. “This baby came to our lives for a reason.” She explained. “He needs us, we can’t leave him.” “Besides, this could be our chance to be real parents.” She suggested. “How can you say no to this cute little face~?”
She held up the baby boy to him, who looked at him curiously. Then, the infant smiled and reached out at him, making cooing noises. Tenzin just stared at the baby boy, trying his best not to cave in. Finally, he sighed and took the baby from Pema, into his own arms.
“Well...” he muttered, smiling a bit. “I’ve always wanted to know what it’s like to be a father.” Pema smiled as they snuggled together and smiled down at the little boy. “Welcome to our family, little Conan.” He said to the little boy.
Conan laughed innocently, he knew nothing of the exciting adventure he would have.
