Once again it’s been a while since I’ve drawn my cougar/grizzly bear couple, Elise and Ralph…, but I hadn’t thought of another scenario until recently.
These two live on a furry analogy of Vancouver Island off the coast of British Columbia, and once more Elise is spending the weekend with Ralph in his isolated beachside trailer (think vintage Airstream). Here they are, sharing the chores of fixing breakfast.
Elise and Ralph belong to me.

Cougars/Pumas and Sneps are my favourite felines..., but pumas are SO much easier to colour! Thanks!
Lucky ol' bear. Netted himself the neighborhood Cougar!
The eye contact says it all. He really appreciates her, and she knows.
Yep..., it was a lucky stroke for both of them, the day Elise came running along that beach in front of Ralph's trailer!
Oh, yeah!
This drawing reminds me of something I did accidentally in my story, "There's No Way". In the story, I have a 42 y.o. polar-grizzly bear mix female (Bertha) in a relationship with a 28 y.o. puma guy (Jonathan). It was several months later that I realized I had made Bertha a cougar to a cougar.

I think he will "devour" the cook, she looks delicious. xD
Awesome cute man! =>w<=

Very nice. I've never visited BC and Victoria Island, but I always wanted to. It must be beautiful to live there, and more if you have a nice furry gal to keep you company.
Vancouver Island IS beautiful..., I don't live there, though..., my part of Canada is on the prairies.
Wow, you're Canadian? I could've sworn you were American. I've heard the Prairies are very nice too.
Looks like Big Papa Bear is looking forward to after breakfast (especially given the usual morning weather on Vancouver Island this time of year).
I wonder if she’s smiling because she knows he has about as much on under that bathrobe as she does under that apron?

Islands where you can get away with a little more nudity are good islands ^^
Agreed! Actually, there IS a nude beach on the Vancouver mainland..., for some strange reason it's right near the University of British Columbia!
I didn't know what an Airstream was until now. Interesting....
It never occurred to me to provide a reference to the trailer! North American thinking, I guess! Sorry to be so provincial!
Having just looked at this drawing again after about a year. I found a comic artist by the name of RHJunior. One of the comics he did (does?) is about a bear who meets, falls in love with, and eventually marries a cougar. I thought for a moment that this was fan art for those two.
I know of whom you speak!
RHJunior also did a couple of other webcomics besides "Under the Lemon Tree" which featured the two characters you're referring to, Ben the bear and Lily the cougar. I have the book that he published collating all of the "Under the Lemon Tree" comics..., I really liked his simple style, almost like Japanese brush painting.
"Under the Lemon Tree" might have influenced my creation of Ralph and Elise, who if you recall I first developed in one of my many unfinished text stories long before I drew them. I honestly can't remember which came first, though..., and my Ralph/Elise scenario is different and totally my own.
It's actually a coincidence that I named my male bear Ralph..., I was actually thinking about Jackie Gleason's 'Ralph Cramden' character rather than Ralph Hayes Junior!

I don't remember exactly how I found his comics but, I'm glad I did. He has a fantastic off-beat sense of humor. My favorite of his comics is "Nip & Tuck" and the best arc in that comic is the one where Nip, Tuck, and their dad come home from fishing and dad calls out to their mom saying they're ready for their breakfast. After a few strips where dad gets pelted with eggs and, eventually, a chicken, mom and dad compromise and he agrees to take her camping. In the last strip of the arc, the three of them are standing around Tuck's jeep and Nip is looking in the back as he says, "Pa, I don't see your fishing pole or your hunting rifle. All I see is the tent and one sleeping bag. Somebody's going to get awful cold out there." Then, you see Pa looking at Tuck and saying, "Tuck, when you get a minute, slap the stupid out of your brother." I almost choked when I read that. I've heard that phrase my whole life.
I remember that, too! Even though I'd forgotten the name of that comic! Thanks!
You're quite welcome. I still read "Nip & Tuck" from the beginning every now and then. That's how much I love that comic. I still laugh at the things I laughed at the first time I read it. Another good one was when Pa told Nip and Tuck that Ma used to be one of the sexy gas station attendants that we see every now and then. I loved their reaction to that revelation. LOL.
