If there was a movie scene that could encapsulate my creative process as an early teen, I'll say it's the mine car chase in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It was chaotic, fast-paced, attention-grabbing, unpredictable, and frankly awesome. I'd fill up notebook after notebook of comics this way, then hole-punch them, THEN use these cheap little metal binder rings to link them all together. And if you wager that I was too swept-up in creative wildfire to not give a crap about proper spelling, your right. It doesn't get much more ghetto than that. But honestly, I LOVED it, and when I clicked the final binder clasp into place, there was something special and warmly authentic about the finished product.
Here, we have Jay and his wolf friend Ralph hanging out on movie night. On the playlist* is Terminator 2, and Aladdin - The Return of Jafar.
* Although technically it isn't a "playlist" if you're living in 1993 and have a bunch of VHS cassettes laying around.
