Ooh Rokko's giving me Plutonium. Now I can power my time-traveling vehicle!
Exactly what Plutonium isotope(s) are we talking about, here? Plutonium has a total of 20 characterized radioisotopes, so what Plutonium radioisotope(s) does Rokko have exactly?
Plutonium is used in nuclear weapons and is a byproduct of Uranium fission. Having ALL 20 of Plutonium's radioisotopes all at once yields complete and utter death and will cause an ungodly nuclear FALLOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are other radioactive elements that could in that container, you know. Like Uranium, Thorium, Polonium, Radium, Francium, Radon, Curium, and numinous other radioactive elements. Is that a BOMB THAT'S ABOUT EXPLODE??!!!!
No, it's just a container. Radioactive elements aren't actually capable of exploding by just being around. After all, except for Cesium and Francium, they're all naturally occurring elements on earth. There's a process to make a bomb. And Uranium's alpha emissions are actually weak enough that even at weapon's grade, you're unlikely to get radiation poisoning from it unless you somehow get it inside your body.
*bangs head on giant snow leopard plushie* Have you ever EVEN heard of the Elephant's Foot!!!???? Would it kill you to know that the fuel for Chernobyl Power Plant's reactors is URANIUM!! And yes, the famous Elephant's Foot is still highly radioactive, but it is slowly becoming less radioactive since its' discovery in December of 1986. For liquidators to get a piece of corium from the Elephant's foot, they had use an AK-47 fully automatic gas operated assault rifle with armor piecing rounds. The reason for the liquidators using the AK-47 firing armor piecing round is that the level of nuclear radiation, which was that the radioactivity near the Elephant's Foot was approximately 8,000 roentgens, or 80 grays per hour, it takes about 4.5 grays per hour to get a FATAL dose. For those who wondering what the hell is corium, corium is a lava-like mixture of radioactive fuel, (In the case of Chernobyl's corium-Uranium), concrete, and a host of other materials, (And again, in the case of Chernobyl's corium, it was one of the two moderators used in Chernobyl's reactors - graphite).
Pretty much everything you just said was nonsense. Chernobyl exploded because of many, many failures in safety protocols, including mixing elements that feed the reaction. The explosion was not nuclear, it was a pressure build-up from overheating the boiler, and the heat causing cracks that damaged the facility's structural integrity. The story about the elephants foot was highly exaggerated by the Soviet Union because they wanted to create a myth of brave soviet heroes risking their lives to save all of Europe. In truth, the radioactivity of Chernobyl isn't actually that high, even in the reactor itself and most of the radiation from are alpha particles, which do not have high penetration and as I said, are only normally dangerous if ingested.
There's a lot of myths and misunderstandings about radiation and how it works. There are multiple different types of radiation emitted by nuclear decay and most are only alpha emitters. You need to have a shockingly high dose, in the 10s of thousands, for alpha particles to start doing serious damage in the short term. And the body can recover from the weak radiation damage that you might get exposed to from it. again, UNLESS you ingest it.
Furthermore, the longer the half-life, the less dangerous it is because that means it is rarely emitting radiation. Uranium is pretty unlikely to be harmful on its own, even at weapons grade, which never gets made anymore because plutonium is much more useful for that purpose.
And uranium bullets are nonsense. Bullets are deadly regardless of what they're made of. You will bleed to death from the bullets long before the radiation does any damage. If you survive and the bullet isn't removed, they could do some long term damage, but that's because the bullet is then INSIDE you, where the radiation gets exposed to a lot of soft-tissue organs.

You have won this time. Still thankx the info, friend. I did not know that the USSR had EXTREMELY exaggerated the story of the Elephant's Foot. The reason for using armor piercing bullets was because, at the time of its discovery in December of 1986, the Elephant's Foot emitting high levels of nuclear radiation, the Soviets tried using a drill mounted to robot to get a chuck of the corium, but the robot failed even get ANYWHERE close to the Elephant's Foot, because of the intense radiation emitted by the Elephant's Foot. It FORCED the Soviets to use an AK-47 and armor piercing rounds to get the chuck of corium they needed. I did NOT say that the bullets were made of URANIUM, I said THAT THEY USED THE ARMOR PIERCING ROUND TO GET THAT CHUCK OF CORIUM!!! BULLETS ARE MADE LEAD AND HAD COPPOR JACKITS OR OTHER ANOTHER ELEMENT THAT ARE NOT ANYWHERE CLOSE TO A RADIOACTIVE ELEMENT(S) AND NOT URANIUM!!!! Plutonium can catch fire if not handled correctly, or not stored in a DRY environment. If a Plutonium pit is in a very humid environment, it will form hydrides on the surface, which are PYROPHORIC, which means they may IGNITE in air at ROOM TEMPERTURE!!!
I did double check. The elephants foot actually was extremely dangerous when it first formed. However, the robot kept malfunctioning because the USSR lied to Germany about how much radiation shielding it needed. Electronics are way more prone to being damaged by radiation.
But the half-life of the most deadly radioactive elements in the elephants foot was something like 8 weeks, so by now, it's mostly just a lump of uranium. With basic protection, it's not very dangerous. The main fear the USSR had of it getting into the water was that the water might carry it away and contaminate the river, which would have been bad because so many animals drink it, which could then have gone outside the contaminated zone and been hunted. But they made up the story about it potentially causing a nuclear explosion that might make Europe uninhabitable and that was what they were exaggerating. And all of the members of the team involved in the clean-up went on to live healthy, full-length lives.
I don't know much about plutonium except it can be made as a byproduct of uranium fission.

Do you know WHY and HOW they found the "Elephant's Foot", there were 2 SEPERITE EXPLOSIONS - THE FIRST EXPLOSION LIFTED THE 1,000 TON lid that covered Reactor #4's core hurled it through the roof of Reactor #4's hall, like if it was a paperweight, the second explosion was the most powerful of the two explosions and it was the second explosion that sent the radioactive fuel AND the radioactive graphite moderator out of the core and on to the roof and the area around the power plant. The power plant workers made their way to Room 712, then they moved to Level +27, this was an attempt to prevent a THIRD steam explosion, and this was done by draining the water from the two levels of bubbler pools from under the basement of Reactor #4. Where the corium was located. The bubbler pools held extra water for the emergency cooling pumps. The radiation levels, during the attempt to prevent a third steam explosion, was follows: Room 712 had a radiation level of 1,000 Roentgens per hour in 1986 and Level +27 had a 1986 radiation level of 5,000 Roentgens per hour. For those who no idea of what a fatal dose is in roentgen, it is about 500 roentgens or in modern measurements - about 5 Gray. Yes, the "Elephant's Foot" was extremely dangerous when first discovered, you can still get a fatal dose if you stand near it for awhile.
Lest you forget about the Uranium used at Chernobyl. Chernobyl's 4 reactors were RBMK-1,000s - The 4 RBMK-1,000 reactors at Chernobyl used Uranium 235 with a enrichment level of 2%. Everyone knows that Uranium has a half-life of 4.3 billion years, but that is FALSE - it depends on the Uranium ISOTOPE IN QUESTION. Uranium-235 has a half-life of ABOUT 700 MILLION YEARS, Uranium-238's half-life is about 4.5 BILLION YEARS, and Uranium-234's half-life is about 25 MILLION YEARS. It was Uranium-235 that were used in the 4 RBMK-1,000 reactors at Chernobyl.
WRONG!!!!! Ever heard of the Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II? The GAU-8 30mm 7 barreled hydraulic gatling, which the A-10 is built around, spits 30x173mm cannon rounds that contain DEPLETED URANIUM with a rate of fire of 3,900 rounds per minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't say that they didn't exist, I said they were mostly nonsense to use because bullets are already inherently deadly and you're going to bleed to death long before the radiation does any meaningful damage to you. We did use them, it's just a stupid because they don't actually make the bullets more deadly in the space of time where you'd want them to be.
After a few years of this, I get the distinct impression Virmir isn't very fond of us. <.<;
Works doubly for people who hate furries that you wish to cut marital ties with.
I would print out all of the batches and literally troll The classes this valentines day.
