This "Action-Comic-Cover" styled artwork shows my main heroes charging into an army of Undead.
Though the composition of characters is pretty similar to my artwork "Triple Force" (2019) I still love how it turned out.
Also... Reptile doesn't look so silly up front after all.
^^
Enjoy!

The skeletons remind me a little of the skeletons from Army of Darkness ^^
A really very beautiful picture with sexy reptiles

"Army of Darkness" is exactly what I had in mind! ^^
YES, I grew up with that movie and this one here... this current story arc is "Reptile goes ARMY OF DARKNESS", hehehehe!

Hehe a reptile with good film taste.
I didn't grow up with the films, but I made up for them.
Since the skeletons should have no chance at all ^^

Well, I'm afraid that won't help anymore... XD After all, it's Devon's dark magic at work!

Reptile smash!
Very nice looking as usual with some very nice shimmer on those scales.

Yeah, Reptile smash skulls!!!!! XD
Thanks for the comment and... yeah, though I used some new materials and brushes here it still looks like all the other traditional pieces.
^^
And the scales are most important, after all.

This needs a 80s power metal song in the background, awesome work.
Also, I really love the shine effect on Reppy's scales, is that done with white pencil?

Hehehe, yeah I think that would fit!! XD
The scales are drawn in three steps:
1. Olive green COPIC marker
2. White pencil
3. White acrylic colour and brush (on top)
The brush provides the brightest highlight layer!
Here's an older tutorial by me:

I'm not really using the pens mentioned in the tutorial anymore... but the approach is the same.

Ooooh nice, that's really helpful, I've been using coloured pencils lately but mainly to put shade on the eye sockets and utilizing it for light points on a subject, I've also been using a cheap white gel pen for light points too, like the shine in someones eye's and for edge highlights.
I've used these in my two latest drawings

The gel pen is a first step in the right direction... but the cheap ones usually look horrible. I can either suggest to get a better one OR to use brush and acrylics. You can get a bottle of "skull white" (for example) very easily and cheaply. ^^
Also, you have more control and options when using a brush.

Fair point, I'll see about getting some when I get paid
Hrhrhrhr... I'm happy that this "oldtimer" is still able to please.
XD
Naaaah, just kidding... he's as agile and fresh as ever!!!!

Hrhrhrhrhrhrhrhr... thank you, Flik!!! That's very nice. Much appreciated!!!!!
***MAGNIFICENT***!!!!!!! And Reptile does *NOT* look silly like that! On the contrary, he looks *VERY* handsome, not to mention badass! :D
Yeah, that was my greatest problem here as we all know... the snout. I was afraid and spent most of the time on the face... but it worked out!
Glad you like it!!

I can understand that. Snouts can be quite difficult to get right sometimes. But yes, it did indeed work out! Reptile looks not only handsome... but also kissable.
Gosh... now you mention it... I did draw that kind of pose back in 1999:

WTF!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful work. Very well done. I've had a lot of fun watching this piece come together.
Those undead don't stand a chance. :)

Awww, thanks for the comment and also for watching the video! :3
Yeah, those vids are fun to make and it's always cool to remember how the drawing started.

I can tell you have a lot of fun with it. I've also been watching your posts on this one for the last couple months, bit by bit seeing the piece form from sketch to this final product. It looked great even as a sketch. Even better now that it's in color, of course. It's such a dynamic piece and I thank you for sharing your process with us. :)
Comeback in the classic era~
Dear Patrick, this is fantastic!

Well... at least one traditional artwork each year.

Yay, another epic artwork from you. And as always, it looks really bad ass.
And it was really cool to see each step and I remember you mentioned that Reptile's head looked strange and that you drew him in that perspective only 2 or 3 times. And I kinda remember you did it in your comic book "Circle of Doom". You drew him like that when he has been captured against his will by the Xevon's command (if I recall it correctly).
Anyway, he looks really cute like that and I want to pat him really bad xD
You should draw him up front more often!

Hello, buddy! Thanks a lot for your kind words - that's highly appreciated. ^^
I know how you value the traditional works... so here it is. ^^
Cute is not the word he would agree on, LOL... naaaah... I know what you mean!! XD I'm glad you like it!

That's what I'm trying to go for when it comes to my "official Reptile universe artworks"... ya know... the pictures which continue the official fantasy story.
On the other hand: The "SWIMSUIT" edition artworks are not official. That's just for fun!
