Birds of a feather, blob together!
Logan: I'm feeling rather peckish. A few freshly baked rolls sound perfect as a midday snack. May be two... or three... or fo... huh?
*the creaking of a shopping cart interrups the gull's thoughts*
Logan: Look at that! What a whale! How would anyone let themselves go like that? His shirt doesn't even fit... huh? W-What is he doing? Is he actually... what? He's just piling up bread into the cart!! Is that even legal?
*The pigeon overflowing the cart happily filled the portion that was still free with loaves and loaves of bread, going through multigrain, sourdough, rye, brioche, sunflower seed, sweet rolls, baguettes... everything went straight to the cart!*
Logan: Hmmmph... It's a good thing that I've kept my metabolism after I quit the team. I can still eat whatever I want and not gain a single pound. I can't imagine how hard it must be for a guy like that to move around, having to feed all that bulk!
*The gull's stomach starts grumbling*
Logan: Maybe an extra dozen doughnuts will hold me long enough till lunch. Yeah, that'll do.
Narrator: Little did Logan know, that, in fact, a dozen definitely wouldn't do.
I've long since been a fan of
WolfGoneWide . He is both a fantastic artist and a sensational writer. His series (with classics such as "The Curse of the Doughnuts" and that one Scooby-Doo WG sequence that will forever live in my mind) back in the day contributed greatly to me joining FA and participating in the community. And what would be my surprise when this behemoth of an artist would give me a watch... and not only that, he would also start faving and commenting on my pieces! And (to no one's surprise) he turns out to be an absolute sweetheart! He has a heart of gold and a wit that goes from zero to 100 in less time it takes for him to pop a button at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
He has a number of extremely likeable characters, and (unlike me) occasionally brings them back and fleshes them out even with each new sketch he does! Such is the case with Spruce, his overly oblivious pudgey pigeon. Who despite being a recurrent infractor of public decency in multiple occasions, can never catch a break and seems to always be overflowing his fancy attires. I'm sure that has nothing to do with his inexhaustible apettite.
So I figured I could have both birds doing what city birds do best, and that is taking advantage of all the niches they can find, and fitting into them like the generalists that they are. Either that, or just being complete fatties at a Mexican Bakery. Yeah, something like that.

Is it alright if I give a somewhat lengthy review for this picture? Okay, first off, I think this picture is another fatty, but clean, piece of avian goodness like your Master Crane picture. Secondly, I think it's funny how Logan The Seagull is all like "I'm gonna' lose some weight", and then he's like "Ehh, maybe not". Third, I love how you made Spruce's belly bulge over the cart, and I wouldn't mind seeing more fatty birds do that! Fourth, the story - and Logan's thoughts - were written/typed with excellent consistency, and the jokes are pretty great! Fifth, reading about all of those types of breads Spruce was getting is very interesting, and the descriptions were very helpful and informative. And finally, sixth, I LOVE how the expressions look, and the first expression I noticed was Spruce's happy, unashamed smile. Thank you so much for making this, and PLEASE do more stuff like this in the future!!
