A very distinguished gentleman enjoying only the finest potions.
This was a heap of fun to illustrate, I am very grateful to my art director Deborah Garcia for the opportunity to paint him and clearly playing into my strengths. I drew a lot of inspiration from Ivan Shishkin and a bit from Ghibli style backgrounds. This piece was done for the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate set of Magic: the Gathering.

This bear very much approves of this image. Enjoying a good drink is one thing, but taking the time to also savor the scent? Oh boy.. and ursine noses are perfect for that.
Sir Bearington bluffed his way with The Potion Seller, convincing him that he could indeed handle his strongest potions.
This bear could indeed handle the strongest potions that aren't fit for a man.
Each of your works is something amazing and incredible! I am a huge fan of your work :3
I wonder which potion seller this bear went to. He seems to enjoy only the strongest potions. =)
I saw this card and enjoyed everything about it. Shout-outs for not only Deborah's great direction and art brief that lead you to this final piece, but also to the people on the design team for Battle for Baldur's Gate who decided that the world needed the most amped 2/2 for 2 mana as a reference to this absurd and obscure party member in Baldur's Gate 2.
... y'know, I wonder if the folks at Bioware were playing Magic at the time and thought this was even remotely possible?

Absolutely inspiring! The touches of bright sunlight really make this piece.
First I luv the fact that he took the cork out with his claw tip! 😆😅😅 Secondly art wise, this whole picture is absolutely fantastically done on every level. Kudos Caraid. 👍👍
Pkease tell me one of these fine bears will become a placemat for the game.. please!. My poor suffering bear deck needs a mat worthy of its unbearable might.

I don't know if he will be made into a playmat! If not, I can try to arrange for it myself but it's a time-consuming process unfortunately!
It's not easy to do a 'pinky out' with a bear paw too x3
GOSH DANGIT YOU EPIC ARTIST YOUUU!!!

Thank you!
Not one that goes into rendering specifically, though I do have one that goes into lighting but I don't have it available on any public platform at the moment (it's on Patreon).

CAN I BUY IT!? PLEEEASSSEEE I cant get my paintings to have anywhere NEAR that level of detail and I CRAVE it!
Need I bother to mention that my OC's name is Wilson Bear? Appearing frequently in my fiction (much of it published here on FA).
Gonna have to get this one framed for my lodge-themed living room I’m working on! Stealthily nerdy and a good conversation piece, plus made by my fav magic artist? Yes please! ❤️
This reminds me of a scene in a TTRPG that I was in. The DM questioned how I was going to quaff a potion while in bear form. It ended with a con save vs broken glass.
Awesome job! I can't wait to get a copy and play with an Actual 2-drop Grizzly Bear commander.
This is so ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in SO MANY WAYS. Holy heck!!! I bet it took FOREVER to get all of those details in the background!
Potion Seller, I am going into the forest, and I require your STRONGEST potions
Love how you handled the fur on this piece, got the depth and flow of the tuffs spot on that really shows volume!
Everything you create is so gorgeous, and every brush stroke so carefully placed. <3
Your attention to detail never fails to impress. What a gorgeous scene! I feel like I'm standing right there, hearing the leaves rustle and feeling the morning sun on my face.
Lovely!
Lovely!
Gorgeous work! The way you've rendered that fur, the way it shows volume and folds, not mentioning the colors and leaves, is just...!
I love both the drawing with its tiny details (the cork stuck on the claw, the round bottle fell to the side) and how you describe a bit about your approach, what inspired you and what this was for you. It's great to see you share such stuff!
