Nicky grumbled as she climbed down from the bus. She was only two hours into the trip, and it was already an unmitigated disaster. For starters, she had plans for the summer. Spending a month in the middle of nowhere was not on her agenda. There was flirting to do, boys to tease and girls to taunt. Her experience told her Camp Divinity Lake should have been called Camp Heartbreak. Besides, she passed the curtains module with flying colors the past three summers. Why did she need to take it yet again?
Adding to her displeasure was the bus ride thus far. The only thing that could have made it worse would have been if she had been one of the first campers picked up. She appreciated being picked up from the final stop on the run. However, this appreciation was countered by her neighbors. The only open seat was next to a giggling tween triplet. She and her sisters in the row in front chattered incessantly. Nicky was fairly certain they had no clue what they were talking about.
Even so, the noise might have been tolerable, if not for the disaster duo in the seat behind. The previous summer, she had the misfortune of sharing a cabin with the roommates from infernity. Mindy and Annabelle were quite enthusiastic in their pranking. On more than one occasion, she got caught in the crossfire. After what they did the previous summer, she was surprised they had been allowed to come back. It was just her luck that she ended up in the row in front of them. Maker help her if she ended up in the same situation this summer.
She was surprised when one of the triplets tapped her on the shoulder. She thought her name was Atropos. "Just remember. Its better to steal a boat than to start an orgy." With that cryptic comment, she skipped off. The succubus watched her for a moment as she pulled a trick with her yoyo. She sighed, then made tracks for the restroom.
The service plaza was one of those middle of nowhere places with restrooms, a gas station, a small food court, and a gift shop full of overpriced nicknacks. And at the moment, it was occupied by two bus loads of campers. The atmosphere was the usual wash of emotions. Among her fellow campers, the moods were split between excitement and apathy. Teens being teens, there were the usual flashes of lust aimed at each other. She was pleased to note that a few were aimed her way.
As she finished her business in the bathroom, a note of sadness caught her attention. Looking up, she saw a tween at the sink washing her hands. She had a vaugly Asian complexion, and was sensibly dressed to spend time in the outdoors. As Nicky stepped up to sink, she kept track of the girl's movements out the corner of her eye.
She quickly washed her hands before stepping out of the bathroom herself. It only took her a second to spot her quary going into the gift shop. With the practiced ease of a lioness, she ambled after her. She wandered around for a minute before finally bumping into the girl. Breaking the ice, she queried, “What camp are you headed to?”
The girl blinked at the question. "What makes you think that?”
“Because you have that ‘First time camper’ vibe going on. I’ve been to Divinity Lake enough times that I can spot that look a mile away.”
She stared at her for a moment then hesitantly noted, “I’m headed for Leaning Trees.”
Nicky perked up at the revelation. She had assumed the other bus had also been going to Divinity Lake, but that obviously wasn't the case. At that moment, her well gurgled. While she wasn't starved for lust essence, her reserves were lower than she would have liked. On impulse, she extended her hand and spoke. “I’m Nicky. Perhaps I’ll see you at the intercamp games then. We’re right across the lake from you.”
The girl extended her own hand to grasp Nicky's. As she did, she started to speak. "I’m Naomi …" As their palms touched, Nicky drew on her powers to imprint the other girl’s appearance. This contact also gave the succubus a sharp impression of the girl’s mindset. Hints of anger blended with a coating of sadness, layered on top of a serving of loneliness. Whatever Naomi was about to say got derailed, as she exclaimed “OUCH!”
This sound drew Nicky out of her savoring of Naomi’s emotions. She wished that her powers were a bit more subtle when copying someone, but she didn't know a way around that. She shook her head and ad-libbed, “Sorry about that. I must have picked up some static electricity on my way in.”
She abruptly turned and strode out of the gift shop. On the other side of the service plaza, her seatmate and her sisters stepped out of the food court, en route to the gift shop. As Nicky returned to the bathroom, she muttered 'Patience, grasshopper' to herself. The other passengers from the bus were filtering in the other direction, so she knew she had to be expeditious.
It only took a moment to slip into an open stall. Once there, she mentally counted to five before again drawing on her powers. She shrank in size, losing about a foot of height. Her bosom also shrank, from her normal D-cup to barely an A-cup. This change was accompanied by a fleeting moment of sadness, as she was proud of her ladies and the attention they garnered.
She waited half a minute or so, then flushed the toilet. She paused for a moment at the sink to give her hands a quick wash, then she scampered for the bus parked next to the one she had arrived on. As she climbed the steps, the driver quipped, “Cutting it a bit close, are we?”
She mumbled out a seemingly sincere “Sorry” as she scanned the seats. The first opening she saw was on the seat behind the driver. Fortunately, the lack of a seatmate meant that she wouldn’t need to continue a conversation that she hadn’t started. As she sat down, the driver closed the bus door. A moment later, the engine rumbled to life. Nicky stared out the window as the bus pulled out of the service plaza. Only then, did the gravity of her decision hit. What in eternity had she gotten herself into?
