So, over a year and a half ago now (aiee, how time flies) SonicSweeti was running a series of 'blind egg adopts', starting with an egg in a colour pattern, you suggest a species, and she provided a character of that species based on the colour pattern. I don't get adopts very often, but one of the eggs looked sort of like a mountain with slate grey along the body, ice or sky blue at the top, and more of a sandy yellow at the bottom. Of course, for that, I had to go with mountain lion/katamount/cougar/puma/florida panther/etc. as the species, because why not? And the result was Fairweather, named after Fairweather Mountain, the tallest mountain in British Columbia, and which sprawls across the British Columbia-Alaska border.
I'd joked back then that I'd have to get her drawn attempting to do 'camouflage' by actually leaning up against her namesake mountain. Needless to say it doesn't actually work all that well at that scale. But she seems to be enjoying herself, and nobody else is complaining about the view...
(The background is based on a picture from Wikipedia with Mount Fairweather on the left and Mount Quincy Adams on the right, those peaks actually define the Canada-U.S. border in the area.)
Artist's posting at /view/53645589/ so feel free to check things out there, too!

I'd like to meet her, but then I might have a Fairweather friend...
I shall name Fairweather's title the Neopolitain Popsicle (Pink, Blue and White) Mountain Ice Poom, the Patron Goddess Cougar of tasty summer ice treats, who visits her followers with sales trays filled with copious amounts of brand name summertime lollies, slurpees, popsicles, ice creams, and Dubbin, but no broken glass, no.

EDIT: May I use 'Fairweather' as the name of a v.1 genetic model of Canadian aniform humanoid cougars in my novel Aggregant of Pride, Jenora? Named after the mountain and not your gentlewoman poom, I mean.

*confused look from mountain lion* Neapolitan? But I've never even been to Italy!
And sure, I don't mind. I'm borrowing the name myself anyway, from a Captain Cooke over two hundred years ago.
Amusingly, the 'Fairweather' name has been translated (it's Mt. Beautemps in French, for example), but it's sort of like the Pacific Ocean: it was named that because the people who first saw it thought it quite calm compared to what they had just been through. But they just happened to arrive on a good day.

"When the ice is all blue,
Feet sized like icebergs, too,
That's Fairweather..."
I'll take you to supper sometime, dear poom, a place with generous portions! <3

*chuckles* Cute.
I will admit the joke I made there might be a bit obscure... 'Neapolitan' is the general term for something or someone from Naples in Italy. So it's sort of like Venetian is for Venice, it was originally a reference to a city but for most people not from the area it's more a reference to some of the most famous things from that city now.

Well, beautiful mountain of mountain lioness, I'm going to be paying very close attention to your gorgeous and gigantic feet, and I will call for a test sometime soon, lovely cat! <3

Very nice! Even though I don't like the cold, I wouldn't be complaining about the view either. Thank you for sharing
Well, if you're close enough to her, it's probably not all that cold, either...
