The infant Prince had been missing for some time and the whole kingdom was on high alert searching for the cub and his kidnapper. Queen Nala and King Simba were leading the search with Sarabi, Simba's mother, and Tama, the unfortunate lioness who was attacked. Tama had refused to have anyone tend her wound and her fur was still stained with blood. She had tried to apologies so many times but neither Nala or Simba could hear it, they were far more concern about the whereabouts of their cub. Sarabi had told Tama it was not time for apologies, it was time to act while the trail was fresh. So the wounded lioness stopped talking and focused on following Zira's trail.
Fluttering wings swooped over head as Zazu came to the King and Queen after scouting ahead "I've seen her! Zira is just over that ridge!" the hornbill cried out as he turned back around "This way!"
"Our cub Zazu, does she have him?!" Simba shouted up to the Majordomo.
"I couldn't see him." Zazu called back worriedly.
Simba and Nala shared a concerned looked before speeding up to keep up with the bird, Sarabi and Tama folowing suit. As they came to the top of the hill they slowed down to take in what lay before them. They spotted Zira skulking towards them. She glanced up, spotting them. She smiled.
Blind rage filled Nala at the sight of the lioness's smug smile. "You monster!" She yelled before launching into a full spirt right towards Zira. The other lioness readied herself still smiling, a low cackle escaping her. Nala dived at Zira claws and fangs first. Zira fought back and the pair threw paws and snapped at each other. It wasn't long before Nala had the upper hand and had Zira pinned. During the struggled Nala had felt her fangs tare skin and Zira's ear was bleeding profusely. As the Queen glared down at the other lion she felt the sting of tears in her eyes.
"Nala! Stop!" called Simba as he reached the fight. He slammed into Nala pushing her off Zira. The Queen snarled her mate and went to pounce back on Zira before she could get to her feet but Sarabi and Tama stopped her.
"Such a temper." Zira snarked as she got up "A Queen should more dignified." she chuckled darkly.
"Where is my son Zira?! Tell us now!" Simba snapped demanding an answer.
Zira put on a false concerned expression "The Prince is missing? Oh how awful. Maybe you should pick you baby sitters more carefully." she looked to Tama the smile creep back to her face.
"What have you done with my Son?!" Simba was trying to keep himself for striking the lioness, but she was making it difficult.
"I avenged my beloved!" Zira snapped back "An eye for an eye, a Prince for a King."
"How could you Zira? He was innocent, just a cub." Sarabi spoke solemnly.
"The cub of a murderer, and a false heir!" the guilty lion snarled "These lands belong to Scar and the true heir, my son Kovu!"
"No Zira, Scar was the murderer. This is our kingdom, not his!" Simba roared "And from this day on you, your lionesses, your cubs and anyone who ever swore allegiance to Scar are banished. You will never be a part of this pride again and if you or any of your lions enter the Pridelands again, there will be no mercy."
****
This was a challenging drawing I must say but I'm quite happy with the outcome. Zira getting her comeuppance for her actions. Many would say she deserved more than a torn ear and being exiled but Simba refuses to be a murderer like his uncle, he would not kill a mother with young cubs of her own. Also once Nala calmed down a little she agreed with Simba's decision but in the moment she had other ideas of how it should have been handled.
For those worried about Tama, neither Simba or Nala blame her for what happened but there was some time were Tama was treated a little differently. She was not trusted to do cubsitting and some of the other lionesses avoided her. By the time Kiara and Kion were born Tama was being treated like a trusted member of the pride again, although she still felt guilt which may never pass. The new scars on her face a painful reminder of the time she failed.
ALSO in my headcanon Tama is a maned lioness with just a little bit of scruffy mane. None of the Pridelander lionesses ever judged her or mistreated her due to her mane but Scar and his loyal lions were disgusted by it. After Simba came back and Nala became Queen Tama got to be a lead hunter and if anyone tried to mock or jeer the pridelanders would come straight to Tama's defence.
Hope all this makes sense... I'm tired XD

This is a REALLY cool explanation as to the banishment of Zira's people. And I'm SO INTERESTED in what will happen to the little prince in the Hyena's care. What a cool premise!
