It had been a few weeks since the human had arrived at Cherryton and befriended the bear he had grown attracted to. After spending so much time together, Let felt it was time to tell Riz what he avoided telling everyone else he'd met so far. If he didn't say something, he'd go crazy.
"The truth is...my world is dead."
"Dead?" Riz was surprised at those words.
"There's nothing left of my world, my Earth. It's all desert wasteland as far as you can see. Cities are just empty graveyards of civilization. There isn't a single blade of grass or drop of water to be found. And there are no other humans left. I'm the last one." The human trembled and started to cry. He wasn't able to hold back anymore. The memories of the worldwide armageddon, when the sky turned a twisted shade of blood red and fiery orange, the screams of the people around him as he was desperately figuring out what to do, all of it came flooding back into his mind.
"Let?" The brown bear pulled the weeping young man close to him. The human rested his face against Riz's large chest. The words he had heard the mysterious visitor from another world utter were quite alarming to him. He tried to picture what it looked like and it just didn't seem believable. Could this heartbroken young man have really come from such a miserable world? Even worse was that he stated he was the last human. What could it have felt like to be the last of your own kind?
"I've...never told anyone anything about this since I began traveling to other worlds. You're the first person I've actually mentioned a word of this to. I could have told so many others by now, but I didn't. Thank you...for hearing me out."
"Is there a reason you told me?" Riz asked.
"Because...I..." Let looked up at the bear. Riz noticed the human's soft face had been stained by his tears.
He looks so much like Tem right now. So innocent and honest.
"Riz, I've fallen in love with you." The words left the human's mouth almost quietly. The brown bear wasn't sure what to say. He gently wiped the tear stains from Let's face with his finger, being careful not to let his claw come near the human's skin.
"You...love me?"
"I do. It's just...this is how I genuinely feel. I feel like I can tell you anything." Let wondered if it all sounded completely absurd to Riz, a twenty-two-year-old human telling a seventeen-year-old bear that he loved him. But he didn't want to stay quiet or lie to himself; he had truly fallen in love with the big ursine.
What seemed like a silent eternity passed in the bear dorm. It was just the two of them, sitting in the fading light of the day as the sun set. Let continued to rest his head on Riz's chest, finding comfort in being with someone so strong.
"No one's ever told me that they loved me before." Riz said after a while. "You're the first."
"I would love to be your first." At those words, the bear looked down at the human with surprise.
"Are you sure? You're okay with that?"
"Yes. When I look at you, I see..." Let stopped himself mid-sentence in order to raise his head closer to Riz's and kiss the bear deeply. "...a god of the forest."
He was taken aback by the kiss, but recovered quickly and chuckled a little. "A god of the forest? Don't you think that's going a bit overboard?"
"It's true. I respect your strength as a bear, Riz."
Respect. The word echoed in his mind. It was a word he never expected to hear from anyone when it came to being around him and his massive strength. The power of a bear was something that many herbivores feared in this world, and it was this fear that gave bears such a negative reputation. So much so that the government required ursines to take strength suppressants, in the event one could lose control and prove to be unstoppable. Hearing Let say those words moved him.
"I want to give myself to you willingly." Needing no further motivation, Riz put his large hands around Let's body and gently pulled him down to lay with him on his bed. The human put both his hands on the bear's strong pectorals and felt just how powerful a beast he was.
"Riz..." The human said softly.
"Let..." The bear returned just as softly as the two of them kissed, giving in to their newly stoked desires.(с)
