It had been a weird kind of season for Vitani. She had lost both Nuka and Mother to Zira's stupid war, she and the other outlanders were allowed to join the Pridelanders, Kovu married the Princess and now they were expecting cubs, then to top it all off Kiara and Simba had appointed Vitani head of the new Lion Guard in Kion's absence.
Vitani's head was spinning with all the changes to her life but her guard sisters were such good team mates they were keeping her on track. They had all been part of the same hunting party in the outlands so they already had each others back and trust, so becoming the guard felt fluid and worked well for them. They were very capable of handling the Pridelands problems, from caracals being stuck in a tree to zebra panicking for no real reason and stampeding. Not much could phase the new guard. That was until a member of the pride went missing. Tiifu, the bright and bubbly Pridelander who was always overly friendly with Vitani had gone missing over night.
The first few days of tracking were unfruitful, the lioness seemed to have totally vanished. The guard were searching day and night but it seemed the Pridelands were bigger than they anticipated. It was almost a full seven days before they found traces of Tiifu. They found the sent of her in one of the hidden dens near the edge of the territory. These dens are usually only used went a lioness wants to give birth away from the pride. It made the guard suspicious but both Zuri and Kiara had no idea if Tiifu could have been pregnant, they swore that Tiifu had said nothing about having a mate and Zuri was certain she would know if Tiifu had.
Days after that the guard found tracks that must have belonged to Tiifu travelling between birthing dens and found her sent at the destination, but still no Tiifu. Vitani was getting more and more stresses by not being able to find the lioness. She was sure Simba must be loosing faith in her abilities at this point. Vitani was close to giving up but her guard wouldn't let her. they were right to keep up the search.
Nearly ten days since Tiifu went missing finally a fresh sent, clear tracks and obvious signs that the lost lion was staying in a near by den. Vitani was surprised by the obvious clues, it had seemed like Tiifu was being extremely careful to leave no signs and now suddenly its so obvious. The guard followed the tracks and sure enough they spotted a pale lioness in the distance.
"Tiifu!" Vitani shouted out "Wait there!" the guard started to rush towards their target. The lioness stopped, her head was low and her tail hung lifeless. Nothing like the usual body language of this particular lioness. As the guard grew close Vitani called out to her again "Tiifu, are you okay? Where have you been?"
The lioness turned around and the guard skidded to a holt. They all stared in awe, unsure if they were really seeing what they were seeing. The lioness before them hold a small cub in her mouth. A cub who must have only just opened it's eyes, its baby spots barely visible. But it wasn't the fact Tiifu had a cub that brought them all to silent shock, they had been suspicious after all. No it was the cubs appearance that stunned them. It was a brownish tan with a darker strip on its head and down its back. A pointed nose, curled fur and baggy eye markings. Vitani felt like she was seeing a ghost, her fur prickled and she felt a chill.
"Tiifu. Is that- I mean- How can-" Words failed Vitani as she felt the sting of tears fill her eyes and a lump forming in her throat.
"Tiifu," Shabaha spoke up "Who is the father of that cub?" she spoke bluntly, the only one confident enough to ask, the bravest for a reason.
Carefully the mother placed her cub at her feet. It looked up a it's mother and mewed. Tiifu avoided all eye contact and stood with her head low and guilt on her face. It was only now the cub wasn't the main focus that it became obvious that Tiifu wasn't doing too well. She looked slim, tired and ungroomed. "I met him not long after Kovu saved Kiara from the fire. He saved me from a crocodile I didn't see. He was really sweet and I know he was a rouge and I know I shouldn't have but..." Her guilty eye looked up coyly "I didn't know what to do. I though if I hide her long enough I could come up with something but living on my own is hard. And looking after a cub on my own is even harder."
"It's okay Tiifu, no ones gonna be mad at you." Imara said softly "But, do you know the name of the father?"
Tiifu nodded "His name was Nuka."
Vitani gasped "Nuka?" she forced herself to move closer though her legs felt like jelly. She looked down at the cub as a tear ran down her cheek.
"You knew him?" Tiifu asked puzzled.
Vitani looked up at the lioness, she was a little surprised Tiifu didn't know but she thought back and realised she hadn't spoke to anyone about her brother since moving into the Pridelands. "Nuka, was my brother."
Tiifu looked shocked for a moment and then the words kicked in "Was?"
Looking away Vitani nodded. Suddenly she was being nuzzled. At first Vitani froze up, nuzzling was a form of affection that outlanders weren't big on but after the initial shock, it was comforting.
"I'm so sorry Vitani." Tiifu said as she moved away, then with a tender paw she pushed the cub to Vitani's paws "I hope she is able to ease some of that pain. She does look so much like her dad."
The little cub looked up at Vitani, big brown eyes taking in the lion before her before the cub suddenly started spitting and hissing. barely able to stand on her little legs but so full of fight. Vitani laughed though tears and patted the cubs head playfully. "Scrappy little thing." she looked back to Tiifu "What's her name?"
"Zahra"

Yupp, Nuka and Tiifu have a cub :)
I love the thought of the pair, Tiifu is so bubbly and kind, she's just the type of lion he needed in his life. Someone who wouldn't treat him as less, who could make him feel special for once. In this AU Nuka was creeping around the Pridelands keeping an eye on Kovu when he came across Tiifu who was foolishly having a snooze in the sunlight right on a crocodile basking bank. The grumpy crocs were ready to snap up Tiifu but Nuka jumped in, waking Tiifu and rushing her to safety. He expected her to be all "Oh no a rouge! and outsider! Sound the alarm!" but instead she was just very grateful and sweet. They got on surprisingly well and ended up meeting up a few times. She tried to suggest he come join the pridelands not knowing exactly who he was but he was far too dedicated to his mother and stopped meeting up with Tiifu. Then, he died. :(
I think they could have been a nice couple but I like Vitani/Tiifu a little bit more so unfortunately Nuka is staying dead but will live on though his daughter.
Zahra means flower or bloom which I feel is a good opposite to Nuka (meaning stink) she is a rowdy and boisterous cub who is gonna give her mum (and other mum/aunt) quite the run around. When her mother and Aunt start dating they are worried at first it would be weird for the cub but Zahra takes the news surprisingly well and then goes about bosting that she has two mothers. She is gonna be a month or two older than Kovu and Kiara's cub/cubs.
