She was finally getting her special color... after many months of saving, her owner had at last afforded a paint brush just for her, and as the Relic paint brushed over her curves she couldn't help but shiver excitedly. The thick, goopy grey paint clung heavily to her fur and feathers, weighing them down and starting to dry with a gentle crackling sound, seeping down to her skin and seeming to change her from the outside in like an encasing shell that was becoming one with her body. It was warm at first, then cool as it settled, feeling the soft pads of her paws permanently fused down into the solid stone base beneath her. Every joint beneath the envelope of weathered grey creaked to a rigid halt, feeling her whole body turn stiff as the inanimate colors took over her with small tufts of moss settled around as though to give the appearance that she'd always been stone.
Her voice muffled with a teasing brush over the tip of her beak, fusing top to bottom securely shut and muting any intelligible noises she could possibly have made. Her little Cobrall pet-pet looked on curiously as the Eyrie was slowly turned from fluffy blue creature to rigid, statuesque stone, inch by inch, until nothing remained of her old self to be seen outwardly, smoothing her features into cracked grey rock. To any who looked, they'd just see a seemingly weathered old statue of an Eyrie, never knowing that it was in fact a living pet, immobile, but happy, and relishing every moment of the admiration and attention she would receive, wherever she was displayed~
It's been like 15+ years since I last played Neopets, but I was thinking back to it nostalgically, and how so much of it was TF-ey! From goopy paint brushes to the lab ray, morphing potions, magical TF plushies... heck. Probably influenced a lot of us! Those who played anyhow. And then I find out there's statue and tree paint brushes that came out after I left, so long ago??
Just had to try drawing it haha

I remember how I randomly got an island paintbrush that was nice, it never happened again but in my case I travel to the main hub and I got an event where a hand randomly gave me the paintbrush
You got an island brush at random?? Lucky ducky, I never got a single random paintbrush LOL
I’ve always had weird ass luck like the time I won a door prize in a real life event when I was 6-7 the prize wasn’t something you would give a child it was a (Wine Rack with Wine)
I know it was a major TF influence to me.
Although it was disappointing when they added the clothes and suddenly all the forms needed to be the same model. It felt like they had just started the really unique underwater forms before that hit.

Yeah I do like the old designs better, but with some of these new things they do give a good opportunity for doubling down on the pet colors! Like sticking your relic pet out in a jungle temple or in a museum, which is fun.
The classic maraquan designs were some of the best, I will say!

I might do Plushie next. Or render the lab ray doing a weird pet color like custard or chocolate LOL
I never managed to rack up enough points for a paintbrush, but now that you mention it, it did have the potential to be very TF-y. And a lot of fun character designs too!
Oh, that's wonderful. I never played Neopets but if I had known you could just paint yourself into stone (or plant) that might have changed. Beautiful rock face there.
The curious little companion is a great touch.
