So this is the first image posted in this group - I dont know if theres another like it on Furaffinity - if there is please direct me in the right direction but I created this group because I've been wanting to for a very long time.
Somewhere furs could come, and talk about thier problems and not be judged.
So please if you know someone with Autism direct them this way :)

I find this very symbolic to me, for me discovering i had aspergers was like i had added 100 pieces to the puzzle about myself... so many things i did and felt finally made sense. We are only different to people without autism because our thought patterns are different to the norm, but in a way isnt this normal anyway? I mean no one truly thinks the same as someone else (unless you're a zombie :P) . Finding out i had aspergers 2 years ago was a highlight of my life, not something i look down at, its not so much pride for me, more that ive discovered a large part of who i am over all.
Again thankyou for making this group. I will not be putting my aspergers on my profile as of yet though, although it is something im happy to share here and with others if they ask, as we all know there will always be ignorant people that assume they know what it is or just feel like being nasty for kicks. Ill share it with friends but for now i dont have the confidence to share it with the world because of that. But im at all hopes this group will help change the outlook, at least within the furry community

I have Autism. It's been around basically my whole life and I accept it cause it makes me different not just some average kid.I'm proud cause I have friends that can relate to me and that makes me happy. Autism is what I was born with and it will stay with me until the day I die
I have Autism myself; last Monday I attended this community garden and there was this little guy and his little sister is a non-verbal autistic, he told me that he hoped the autism went away so his sister could be normal. I corrected him by telling him that if you have autism, you are born with it and it would be his job to look after and protect his little sister.
I am proud to have Autism, regardless of the problems it causes for those of us that are less social than the norm But its what makes us unique and what will help us leave a mark on this work for the next generation.

We don't need awareness. People are already aware we exist. We need acceptance and understanding...much of the autistic community doesn't like the puzzle piece as it is the main symbol of Autism Speaks, which is also not much supported by the autistic community as it's a hate group.
