Been working on a fairly large Diorama mostly based on a series of figures from "The Little Soldier Company" in the UK, sculpted by John Pickford. It's a dwarf Tavern called 'The Dozing Dragon'.. Since I wanted to use the sign they provide (metal cast) and not remove or edit the name bit, and that's a fair enough name, I went with it.
This image shows the current state. I debated a number of ways to do the basic tavern building including Laser cutting bits but decided to use the 'OpenForge/OpenLock' miniature gaming printable system. each tile I've used is 2 inchs by 2 inchs, which give this a size of 16inchs long by 6 inchs deep. Quite some size.. Ordered a custom display case for a pretty nice price though I seam to have slightly screwed up and it's a little tight.. I can do something about that but it's not a major thing once it's all together.
Anyway.. as you can see from this bit, It features a few sections, a little bit of the town street with a river and a bridge, the main tavern room, and two little side rooms. The two side rooms are Toilet stalls which are a bit more private then medieval public toilets were but now as private as most modern toilets.. but it's a fantasy setting anyway ^_^
the first set piece I painted up and put in is the Fireplace, with table and Dwarf sitting by it. Turned out pretty well I think and I'm fairly happy with it. I've also got the Bartender behind the bar (which I had to highly rescale because a 28mm human sized bar was taller then the Dwarf). I've also down the Metal sign to hang outside the tavern.. though it's KINDA a bit low.. I was debating between making the tavern 4 inchs high (2 tiles) or 3 inchs (one and a half).. I went with 1 and a half and that's fine.. besides, I've seen pubs with low signs ^_^
Got quite a bit more to add, including other figures not part of the original range and looking to get a few more as well.
Also, I've got a prototype of a chandelier which I have 4 flicker LEDs in to make some basic effect lighting. (LEDs are 2 pairs of 2 LEDs and runs great on about 3 volts.
Anyway.. It's something fun and I'm enjoying this.
