(So Last Week...) Prince Vassago! (Helluva Boss Season 2!...
Oooooookkkk....I don't know what happened the past week folks, but things were a crawl for us on the web, especially here, but it APPEARS things are picking up again, so hopefully it was just a weird one-and-done thing!
Still, it happened in a most unfortunate way, slowing to such a degree, wasn't able to post without things getting messed up. Which suuuucks! Because we had plans! See, something FINALLY premiered after nearly a year of waiting, and we wanted to celebrate it somehow. How? By pitching in our own character inspired by the series!
And that series was Helluva Boss, the side series of Hazbin Hotel creator Viviziepop. The series is helluva time, with that great balance of great fun and (growing) character development that hit a high in the season finale. And what's best about this series? It's FREE to see! Heh, but seriously, that is a huge thing, because the animation and crew are spot on with big names like Richard Horvitz (Invader Zim) and Norman Reedus (Walking Dead) SOMEHOW in this 'little animated show that could' that is SUCH a blast to go through!
Anyway, the show has a growing lore stream and has a following dedicated to finding out what is gonna happen in the show and to the characters that we've only gotten to know through a single, nine episode season (if you count the pilot). Needless to say it's a lot of fun, and if you've got maturity about you, check it out all the way to the end and join the hellspawn!
Annnnyway. As said, I, with some Az assistance, drummed up what kind of character WE would have in the world of Helluva (and by extension Hazbin). It was just for fun, but honestly, as I dug more into all this background stuff, since this guy IS based off a real demon, I actually had quite a lot of fun with it! What you see here is a nice cut of the character we made, but there is more hidden beneath the surface is, like going through the show, you got some maturity in ya hm hm.
So, enjoy! Maybe it'll get you to check out this awesome series, but do know, it's not for kids...unless they're mature about just enjoying a joke hehehe. And for the fans...Season 2 is finally here! Grab your happy pills and absinthe (you'll get it) and buckle in!
Name: Vassago (HIDDEN)
Species: (HIDDEN)
Title: Prince
Age: (HIDDEN)
Gender: Male
Unofficial Voice Actor: Alex Beckham (of Man On The Internet fame)
'Known' Abilities:
Enhanced Strength: Vassago is stronger than his form betrays, allowing him to lift several times his body weight.
Time Sight: Like other higher demons, Vassago can see into the past and future, though this power is limited to objects.
Find Lost or Hidden Items: His main duty, Vassago is able to find anything that is considered 'lost' or 'hidden' from a particular person or from everyone. Naturally, this means he is also the best person to contract with to find 'stolen' property, particularly when it is being hidden before sale or auction.
Conjure Guardians: Vassago is able to conjure crystalline guardians that typically take on the appearance of Hellborn that he may have encountered. It is unknown if these entities can speak, but they are hardy and don't seem like they require sleep or food, making them very effective protection for vaults and security. Vassago maintains hundreds (perhaps thousands) of guardians at once through the Rings of Hell---depending on renewing contracts with those involved---though most are on a sort of 'auto-pilot' that allows him to proceed with his duties without detriment. He also uses Guardians to help with his 'daily routines', as they have little, if any, personality to be discouraged in the tasks.
Crystalline Cage: A defensive measure, Vassago is able to encase a threat in a crystal shard that immobilizes them. He generally uses this ability to get someone to listen to him rather than make fun of him, and usually has no maliciousness intended with it.
Flight: Simply put, he's able to fly and hover with great experience---even despite excess 'loads'.
Portal Conjuration: Like other Princes, Vassago is able to portal-travel through Hell's Rings. However, like Princes, he requires his Seal to be used in order to travel to Earth.
Tail Skeleton Key: The crystals on the end of Vassago's tail is his personal bypass to any normal and Hell-oriented form of protection; the crystals aligning to form essentially a 'skeleton key' that unlocks any lock or container, removing any protections in place to prevent entry. Overpowered, many would say, but Vassago is unusually responsible with this ability; he does not use it to steal from clients or those outside his contracts.
True Demon Transformation: Like all higher demons, Vassago can enter a fearsome, more powerful demon form. However, few have seen this form of his, and he notably keeps himself in check from using---sometimes manifesting in blackened eyes or glitching powers when he's truly angry. Notably, employees who work in his Vermilion Vault have a betting board for new employees being interviewed that includes "Tantrum" at the bottom of the list with a 1/0 odds with the note 'we all lose' written to the side. (Side note: 'Didn't Mention 'The Diaper' is 1/1000 odds with stylized letter by it reading: Fat ****ing Chance!)
Appearance:
In his Hell 'incarnation', Vassago is a short, 3-foot, red-scaled, reptilian demon. He has two, short curved horns, a crooked snout, and blazing yellow eyes. His wings are sharp and bat-like with a black, oily appearance and a purple tip tone. He has a long tail that ends in a tip, with several crystal-like objects floating around it in an almost-orbital fashion. All his claws appear to be crystal-like in structure, but are hard as diamond. Most obvious, and curious, he wears what appears to be a tape-on diaper of some sort that is quite foreign in Hell, having a strange 'glow' to it. In official circumstances, he may wear a custom-made suits, but every one of them seems to have some slight burning at the base that seems to be cause by the glowing garment. In addition, they have a lemony scent to them.
His true demon form isn't widely known, but has been regarded by his staff as on par with a 'nobody wins' situation when he takes it on; presumably it is actually more threatening than his normal form generally seems.
Bio:
A Prince of the Ars Goetia (apart from the Paimon Branch), Vassago is tasked with duties that involve his ability to discover hidden and lost items, as well as to secure demonic treasures with his conjured guardians; a position that makes him innately useful to demons both high and low in Hell's hierarchy.
Vassago is, quite unusually for a 'demon', of a good disposition to higher (initially) and lower demons alike---including Sinners on occasion---associating with any clientele regardless of rank. He keeps his word and doesn't betray any of his clients, unless they break their contract in some way of course, and is generally pleasant to be around given time, and if others move past his 'eccentricities'. This has left the him with quite the cash flow, as he is regarded as easier to work with than higher demons in the services he provides.
As Vassago has pretty much isolated himself from the politics of the Ars Goetia, most of the current members, and many Hellborn, are unaware that he has been around for 'quite a while'. Many find it unusual that a young-looking demon such as himself is such a regarded (in older circles) individual, for good or ill, despite seemingly having no family or precautionary heirs. This is mostly intentional by Vassago, as he declines to reveal personal information about himself, though it is apparent that such knowledge is held by the Ring Lords of Hell and even lord Lucifer himself.
Unfortunately for Vassago, his most prominent physical feature is the diaper he wears around his waist; a more 'modern' disposable garment with tapes instead of folds and with interlocking rings and a 'lock' on the front. While many demons think this is some obviously 'lewd' thing on Vassago's part, with few resisting amusing or belittling responses on it, it is actually true when Vassago berates that it is anything but. While many take this with a grain of salt, it is apparent that it is nothing like anything in Hell, both in make, and it's strange 'glow' that it has; not to mention its tendency to 'burn' away portions of Hell-made material and, apparently, from one imp's account, can actually 'burn' demons who touch the thing.
His relationships with those lower in Hell's hierarchy are generally demeaning, filled with belittlement common in Hell, till they learn the diapered-reptile in front of them is a Prince and could squash them like bugs, comparing to others in the Ars Goetia. While this is amusing to Vassago at times, he has not garnered a reputation of actually ever doing such a thing before. In fact, it appears Vassago tries hard to maintain an air of hellion behavior when he imagines it needs to be used, often going too far or too little with insults or displays of power to prove a point or to rebuke an offense---though generally not in any 'lethal' way. Those who treat him with respect, however, will find Vassago's 'good nature' take the forefront, which explains why he is honest and true unlike nearly every other demon.
Vassago typically keeps to himself, and is not very social with other Princes or his own employees. Those who know him best they can may interpret that the Prince has a weight on his shoulders that he has carried 'for a long time' and has had many revelations that he has come to terms with and has formed his own course in life that he finds is best. He is sympathetic to minor Sinners, the low ranking Hellborn, is intrigued at alterations in demon values (such as actual love rather than lust). He mostly conducts business in his amply named 'Vermilion Vault' in Greed, but does have residence elsewhere, including Pride.
Experienced enough to keep his emotions inward, personally, Vassago is doing his best day-by-day to keep himself balanced between the demon he is, and 'something he used to be'.
Relationships:
Lucifer Morningstar: Having been one of his earliest supporters, and sharing a mutual 'dislike' of certain individuals, Lucifer and Vassago are on extremely good terms; so much so, that Vassago is knowledgeable about the inner workings of Hell's highest positions and, in fact, helps maintain them. The ruler of Hell designated Vassago as the 'particular prince' not due to its lower rank, but by request, as Vassago was humble enough to admit he was not the 'ruling type' such as the current Ring Lords of Hell. While their meetings are few and far between, Lucifer has found Vassago to be one of his most trusted 'damage control' operators in Hell; even so much as giving him a position with his abilities that practically make him untouchable. To that end, Vassago helps Lucifer with almost anything, to retrieving angelic weapons left by Exorcists, to locating the latest Polka Hits CD on Earth.
Lilith Morningstar: While Vassago gets along with Lucifer on a friendly level, his brief relationship with his wife is more business oriented. He is keenly aware that, while Lucifer is the face of Hell's leadership, Lilith is the busy hand that keeps it afloat. It is to her that he mostly handles duties in his circle that refer to the background stability of Hell. He finds her somewhat intimidating, despite Lilith's calm and maternal demeanor; the later of which makes him uncomfortable thanks to his ever-present padding.
Charlie Morningstar: While not officially meeting, Vassago is aware of Lucifer's daughter, and her attempts within Pride. Though he doesn't voice his opinion on the matter, being lightly aware of Lucifer's feelings on it, he finds Charlie's endeavor to be doomed from the start; though his judgement comes not from an opinion on Charlie or her good intentions, but from a personal experience he does not share.
Mammon: Having set up shop in Greed, and having known Mammon for 'quite some time', Vassago loathes the Ring Lord of Greed. Mammon takes great delight in the occasions he meets with Vassago, enjoying any opportunity to get the pampered prince's hackles up. Vassago detests how Mammon operates, believing he's gone 'all in' on the Sin he embodies, and like Lucifer (whom Mammon claims as a best friend), finds him annoying. Naturally, Mammon takes any opportunity to make fun of Vassago when possible, taking great joy in making him 'bring the little demon out' (in one instance leading to a very 'costly' endeavor involving Vassago's 'true demon form' that Mammon took great delight in despite the cost). But after knowing each other for 'quite some time', Mammon's jokes are somewhat stale and repeated, which Vassago has since brushed off with ease. This has made the Ring Lord of Greed a bit more malicious in trying to get under Vassago's scales, and a bit frustrated since he's ACTUALLY the one between them that's a friend of the ruler of Hell.
Other Princes/Demons: Vassago has more or less left the limelight of the political game for several reasons, and the few Princes that do know of him generally make light of him and talk behind his back. However, many of those same individuals sometimes find themselves a bit more humble when they lost or had something stolen and find the best way to retrieve them is through the demon who's the best at it. In fact, like the higher demons, such as the Ring Lords, it's pretty much an unwritten rule that it would be stupid to 'truly' mess with Vassago, as any harm to the demon would possibly disrupt the security the diapered-demon himself had made for them, as well, in greater degree, bring down Lucifer's hand in things.
---
Sitael: A rarely heard individual that Vassago has a one-way-hostile relationship with. Spoken with through a glowing white and blue portal on occasion, Vassago loathes Sitael, who seems to show genuine (some might say smotheringly so) concern for his well-being. In actuality Vassago has his reasons for hating Sitael and finds his 'so-called affection' to be condescending given what actually occurred between the two, and tries to interact with him as little as possible. Their only interaction seems to be when Vassago 'restocks' his 'precautions', a necessary, but frustrating practice thanks to Sitael being involved.
---
Employees (in general): Though they won't say it openly, all those under Vassago have become extremely loyal to them due to him being a change from their, generally, former employers. As his personal duties have made him quite rich in Soul, and continues to do so, Vassago is not stingy with paying his employees a more than fair compensation for their work.
Scratch: A demon imp who looks like he watched gangster films and wanted to emulate the aesthetic in modern times, with mixed results. Wearing a fedora and suits from the mid 30's, Scratch is an experienced Fixer, dealing with various problems for his various employers for decent cash. After an 'incident' that he doesn't talk about, he ended up working with Vassago and enjoyed the gig so much he stayed on permanently. A skilled-knife user, Scratch prefers to do the minimum on a joy; though it's not because he's lazy, but because it means less things can screw up and less frustration for 'the boss'. He enjoys infiltration missions and breaking into places, knowing he has the backing of Prince of Hell to do so. Scratch is sometimes referred to as 'stubby' by some of his associates, as the index finger on one of his hands was burned off from (literally) poking the Prince's padding in amusement on their first meeting. He also secretly loves the movie Johnny Dangerously; but honestly it wouldn't be that surprising if anybody found out given his personality.
Crusha: A demon succubus with a no-nonsense attitude and thick accent, Crusha was a former starlet in the Pride circles, but an incident found her discarded like so many chaff in the business. Vassago found her at her lowest, and she proceeded to trial-work for him, slowly becoming aware she was being valued for her professionalism rather than her body; a new concept to her. She mostly runs intelligence---most people give out secrets when you flash the big one-two---but is skilled with a Bat-Winged Nightingale Rifle for when things need a more lethal touch.
Moddey: A demon hell-hound, brandishing a triple barrel Cerberus Shotgun, and a biker jacket with 'Heaven's Demons' on the back, Moddey is one of Vassago's chief muscle-demons. Gotten out of a jam when he was young by the diapered Prince, Moddey is very loyal to him and is set to take on anything at the drop of a hat. He enjoys souping up his van for retrieval missions, and playing in his (deep) underground band with hits like '**** You'.

Thanks! Though, do remember, he is a Prince, 'handsome' is probably preferable he doesn't get enough good comments hm hm
Hehehehehe, my mistake. He is very regal, and not at all cute as a button.
Heha, who would have thought demons would be cute. Or still be stuck in diapers. XD
Well, 'stuck' does kind of apply to him in particular because of 'what' he is hehehehe. As said, more to him than meets the eye hm hm.
Heha, doesn't change the fact he's a cute and adorable little guy. ^^
....that could squash most demons like a bug if he wanted to
Okay, I just found out about this guy, and I gotta say..
I’m immediately a fan of this handsome, all powerful padded demon lord.
I’m immediately a fan of this handsome, all powerful padded demon lord.
Well, Vassago is based a bit off of the real name of a demon Prince in the Ars Goetia---and for the fans, he'd actually be higher rank than Stolas, given the awesome owl is a marquise Prince himself---though, like other Princes, he's below the Ring Lords such as Asmodeus and Mammon, and the King and his family of course, so he's not 'all powerful' unfortunately hm hm. He naturally still gets teased and very much so by many other Princes and the Ring Lords he encounters---some of which know who he ACTUALLY was way back when and know how to push his buttons---but after so long he's gotten use to it. But he's in a pretty safe position given all he does and his relationship with Lucifier.
Ahh, alright.
He’s still an immediate favorite for me. And ‘all powerful’ he might not be, but he’s daily close considering what other demons on his level are capable of.
I should ask….is there any particular way to gain favor from Lord Vassago? (Whom I feel no shame in admitting I would actually like to hug)

Ooooh yeah, I mean fans of the series see what Prince Stolas can do going 'Full Demon' and Princes are actually pretty powerful. As for favor, it's really just doing one's job (from the desk, to item recovery for clients) and respecting his personal space and personality---he actually kind of reverse-censors himself sometimes to be more 'demon like' and comes off strange when he forces it since he's actually not a bad guy. Oh! Also, understanding that, being in Hell, have to walk the line between being a demon on the regular but knowing you got yourself a good position with actually decent pay (hellborn are like the 'lower class' if you were, Imps especially.)
Fairly powerful indeed.
And that’s pretty interesting with the whole reverse censoring thing. Wonder what it would be like to talk with him when he’s not acting like that. Super rare sight though, I bet.
And yeah, that last part checks out considering what we’ve seen. Vass does seem like one of the best options to find yourself working for

Well it's difficult at first for him, as most new demons would think to see one talking like them and such, and when he doesn't...it comes off as odd. Censoring yourself and giving openings of kind gestures isn't exactly commonplace in Hell, so most, hellborn especially, are unsure if it's a lie, a trick, and if not, are simply bewildered by it.
Oh yeah. There are rare demons who are of good nature. I mean, would like to think Stolas is himself, though from recent episodes, hopefully didn't take TOO much after his father in regards to treating other classes...

Aw. That’s actually kinda sad. Here’s hoping that he’d eventually be able to just be himself, no need to censor anything. Charlie could be a good way to do that now and again, perhaps?
Speaking of Stolas, I actually like to think that one imp butler that was with him at the start was more of a father figure to him than his actual dad. Think something kinda sorta like Alfred Pennyworth

Ironically, he'd be able to talk like a normal, mature person if he didn't have to reverse-censor, since it's common in hell to just say **** and **** and *********** heh. Well, as said before, his relationship with Charlie is minimal, but he knows what she is doing and...knows (not thinks) that it is a wasted effort despite her good intentions.
Oh! Of course! I mean HE remembered his name wherein his own father, Paimon, couldn't! Granted, the guy had a LOT of kids but...he remembers 'owl boy' but not his actual name? Esssh...I know bad fathers but...

…that first part actually made me think of Mr. Torgue for a second there. Like he actually has a built in censor that goes off whenever he’s talking normally. And as for Charlie, we’ll just have to see how it plays out when we eventually return to the Hotel, eh?
I hope that imp butler is still around somewhere. Stolas needs someone like that.
And granted, Paimon has nothing on some of the other worst fathers I’ve seen, but he’s up there. (Ghetsis, Heihachi…..Zeus.)

Ah, Mr. Torgue...aka The Bard in recent times hehehehe. Oh my...I was still blown away, literally, when he nuked the 'spoiler' midway through Wonderlands....I mean...HOW is that possible...?
Yeah...in about five years tah! Honestly, the two shows show the disparity between having a studio committed series, and one made by creativity with donations, I guess, and....we've already finished season 1 of Helluva, and Hazbin hasn't even gotten an Episode 1 yet! There's proof folks! Support the creative!
Doesn't seem like it...been twenty five years (yay, dates!) since...the guy doesn't seem to have anyone (...uh...Octavia....right?) to fall back on...which is probably what's going to lead to the plot further in the season.
Seems more of being ignorant than anything else...has so many kids to have some many precautionary heirs, it's ridiculous. (Oooh Team Plasma boss, shout out....and Zeus? OH YES...OH YES....)

….okey, I haven’t played Wonderlands yet, but now I have to just to see what actually happens. And Torgue is always a treat, so I need to see more.
And yeah, that’s show biz for you. I think the reason is Hazbin got picked up to be put on TV? Idk, it’s a complicated mess. (Support the creative!)
Shame. I quite liked that fellow. (Also, uh….idk if this is true, but considering one of the previews from the season 2 trailer showed Octavia in what looked like Hollywood, she…might have overheard that little argument.)
Yeah, I’m not defending him in the slightest, ignorant parents are still bad, but he’s FAR from the worst offenders out there. (Shout out indeed. And yeah, Zeus just laughs at everyone else’s attempts to be a bad dad)

Oooh! It's not bad at all. It's a slight depature from things, but it's a great D&D/Borderlands combo that is great for a laugh and a ride.
Hazbin got picked up by studio and...supposedly they're looking into whom they would distribute to...which may mean that, unlike Helluva, you'd have to see it through a paywall...ug...
(Actually! From a 'leaked' portion of Episode 2, Octavia will sneak into the IMP office and take Stolas' Grimoire from them to...'see the stars'...which kind of puts her into whatever, we guess, is the equivilant to 'Hollywood' or that theater place with the stars! So...she's doing SOMETHING.)
Yeah....true. (Well...aside from Disney maybe...Zeus is usually portrayed as a bad father...to the point his own son took out HIS ENTIRE PANTHEON, including himself...and possibly their entire world too. Yeah...I...think we know who gets the worst father award in Greece...)

Well. I know what I’m getting for my next big purchase then.
Ugh…….I hope that when it finally gets here it’s still good.
(Oooh, yeah, I remember that now! ……wait, see the stars…..is she trying to go to that area from Stolas’ Lullaby in the Loo Loo Land episode?)
(Fun fact, Disney made Hades the villain by giving him HERA’s negative traits. No joke, look up Mythology Guy’s video on it. Hades is actually one of the more chill gods on Olympus.
But yeah, in literally every single other version ever, Zeus gets the “Worst father of all time” award)

Oh, don't let others dictate your choices heh. But yeah, Wonderlands is a nice game...lot for looters.
I hope it gets some kind of public release heh.
(That's a good guess! That MAY be what she was intending but...goes elsewhere heheh)
Yeah, I actually think I heard that Hercules is an actual demi-god, so that means Zeus cheated on her...sooooo...Hera would not take that too kind...

Still. I am a big fan of the Borderlands series, so I’d love to get it someday.
(Yeah, that’s that I’m thinking is gonna happen. We’ll just have to see, eh?)
He is a demigod, yes. And believe me, Zeus cheating on her is nothing new in the slightest. Like…according to most accounts, he has, at the bare minimum, NINETY TWO KIDS. And all of them have different parents, at that.
There’s a reason why one of my friends jokes that a good 90% of Greek mythology can be summed up as “Damn it Zeus!”
