Manaphy, the cheeky critter that it is, has mistakenly forced Remy to trade bodies with a Charizard statue, of all things!! How will they get out of this one? Let's be real now, they probably won't.
AN: this was just a suggestion I received after asking for a bunch on Twitter but it immediately stuck out to me to the point where I spent maybe a little too long on it. It was supposed to be a little sketch!! But I'm still really happy with it. I like the callout… bubble… thing that shows Remy assuming the position of the statue, with wobble lines that signify that they're mentally struggling to move but, obviously, can't. Also like the effects of the heart swap itself haha I think it's cool,,,
*cough* anyway haha.

It had been months since the occurrence of the anomaly that had summoned Pokémon into Remy’s world, and people were getting used to seeing strange creatures running about all the time. Pidgey and Wingull filling the skies above, Spinarak making their homes in unkempt attics and basements, rumours of a Lapras gliding along the surface of the ocean. What was previously an interactive fantasy was now very real.
And it was something that Remy had to deal with on occasion. The raccoon had somehow become acquainted with a mischievous Manaphy, who liked to use its Heart Swap move to force Remy to trade places with other Pokémon, and occasionally, other people. It seemed about a 50/50 split between Remy getting to be their normal raccoon self and winding up stuck as someone else, which was disruptive, if maybe kind of fun at times. Well, apart from when they got swapped with a Metapod, unable to move on their own. Or that time they ended up as a Finneon in an aquarium for two weeks, confined to one tiny tank, accompanied by other fish Pokémon. Never mind the time they were a Gardevoir. People were… weird about that one.
Remy had been fine for a few weeks, at least. No sighting of Manaphy at all, which was a little strange, but they were glad to have the time to be themself for a while. Being a Pokemon made communicating with their partners a bit tricky.
That day, Remy was wandering home from seeing a movie, taking a stroll through the park nearby their house, when they laid eyes upon the old, cracked statue of a fierce Charizard. Maw agape in a bellowing roar, claws outstretched and ready to swipe, belly… accounted for. The statue wasn’t always here - it had shown up around the time the anomaly began, and several other objects from the Pokemon world had also appeared in their world, from small stuff like Poke Balls and berries to even a whole Pokemon Gym, appearing out of thin air and falling on top of what was previously Remy’s favourite place to eat. Oh, how they missed Li’l Burger Man.
Remy stopped to admire it for a moment, something they’d never really done before. Aside from suffering a little from decay, it really was a magnificent piece. It towered over them, likely almost double their height, and stood atop a marble pedestal adorned with a bronze plaque, itself decayed to a point where some of it was illegible. Something about a Charizard and its trainer who saved a lot of people, but as for who or where, it was impossible to say.
It was at this point that a small blue creature flew into sight, nestling itself atop one of the statue’s feet. Remy stumbled back, knowing that it meant their body was seconds away from being forfeit. “Aw, Manaphy, do we have to do this now?”
Manaphy chuckled, as Remy spun around, anxiously trying to work out what Pokemon they were going to become for the next few days, but they couldn’t spot any within the immediate vicinity. Before they could work it out, a familiar pink glow filled the corner of their eye, as two zigzaggy beams of pink energy trailed from the round tips of Manaphy’s antennae, striking Remy in the chest. They couldn’t see where the other beam of energy was targeted, before they felt themself pulled along by it, as bright pink filled their vision, and they lost all feeling in their body for a moment. Yet again, they were victim to another mischievous Heart Swap.
When Remy came to, the first thing they saw was that they were nearly eye level with some of the trees in the park. They were… tall! Really tall! Ten feet, maybe? Tall enough to see most of the park. Strangely, their gaze was mostly affixed forward, as when they tried to look around, they could only seem to pan their view a little bit in each direction, and their head refused to move at all.
In fact, not an inch of their body responded to their commands. Their legs were planted to the ground and spread apart, their arms held forward with their fingers in a spread, claw-like position, and their mouth was agape, as if in the midst of a fierce roar. Their body also felt like it had a bit of a heft to it - their stomach bulged out much further than it ever did, sure, but they felt as heavy and dense as stone.
Confused, Remy tried to signal for help, but their body still wouldn't budge from its fierce stance, and no sound poured from their mouth. All they could do was train their gaze slightly in a different direction, but if they stopped focusing, it would snap back to default, where they finally paid attention to the object blocking the bottom of their view - a snout. A snout the colour of century-old stone, covered in tiny little cracks and chips.
Oh.
Oh no.
Ohnononononono.
Manaphy put me in the statue…
Now panicking, Remy made a desperate attempt to call out for the tiny blue Pokemon who put them in this mess. Manaphy! This isn't a real Charizard! You put me in a statue!! Help!!
…
Wait, Manaphy probably can't even hear me, can they?
It was impossible to see down below, as Remy's vision simply wouldn't shift that far. The further they tried to look, the more fatigued they felt, so they let their vision snap back to normal and rest, now very concerned about their fate, but whatever had happened to their own body.
What Remy couldn't have known was that their body was slumped over on the ground right in front of the pedestal Remy's stone feet were affixed to. Rear in the air, tail coiled and hanging limply, face locked in a cold, dead stare. The body was breathing involuntarily, but no other signs of life emerged from the raccoon.
Some time passed, and Remy immediately grew bored in their inanimate position. All they could do was watch the trees, the clouds, the sun - which they were thankful wasn't burning their eyes, as there didn't seem to be any way to switch their vision "off." Still, though, Remy could only wonder how they were going to-
"Wait, is that…"
"Remy! Are you okay?!?!"
They heard a set of familiar voices approaching from down the path. Even though they couldn't look down to see, they knew the voices straight away - Remy's two partners, Beau and Ryker. Yes! They'll be able to figure it out, once they see Manaphy!
Remy could only listen, and hope the two worked out the situation.
"Here, help me sit them up."
"Hey… Remy? Remy, you okay, dude?"
"Beau, their eyes are open. Why aren't they responding?"
"I- I don't know! Uh…"
"I don't see anything out of the ordinary."
"Have a look around! I'll try to snap them out of it."
Remy heard footsteps headed behind them and scurrying off onto the grass. Wh. Where's Manaphy?
"Remy! C'mon, snap out of it! How many fingers am I holding up? …Come on!! Don't make me slap you or something!! …You're still breathing at least, but…"
Ryker's heavy drake footsteps could be heard again, as he returned. "I didn't see anything…"
What?!?!
"Maybe we should call-"
"Yeah, yeah, call an ambulance."
No! Guys!! I'm right here!!
"...Uh, I don't- I don't have my phone on me."
"Damnit, Beau…" Remy heard the furious sound of tapping on metal - presumably, Ryker's claw against his robotic left arm, before a short period of silence as the two awaited a response. "...Ambulance. Yes. Yes, our boyfriend is unconscious. We found them collapsed on the ground at…"
Oh, crap. Ohhhhhhcrapcrapcrap. They haven't figured it out… What do I do?! I can't do anything… I'm stuck! Where the hell is that little blue turd?!?! If they were here they'd be able to fix it!! B-but…
"...Yes, we'll be waiting with them. Please hurry. Thank you…"
Guys!!! I'm right here!!! Please…
Remy continually pleaded to no one as the minutes passed, before they heard a siren in the near distance, and the eventual approach of several sets of footsteps and the hiss of a radio. Everyone was talking all at once and Remy couldn't pick up on much of anything that was said, but soon, silence fell on their stone ears again. Everyone had left.
Against their will, only Remy remained.
Desperate attempts to move, to call out for help, were all met with immobility, silence, as they stood unmoving in their battle-ready stance, watching over the park as the sun dipped into the horizon and night fell. The park lights fizzled on, illuminating the path they couldn't even look down to see, as they were left alone in the cold, dark night.
From there, time seemed to speed up for the trapped raccoon. Night became day, day became night, over and over again, until the park itself started to change. Leaves turned brown and fell out of sight, then snow covered their frozen snout, melting in the sun and reappearing during the night, until the leaves reappeared some time later, brighter and greener than before. Remy was literally watching time go by in their immobile state, and they were powerless to fight against it.
The leaves parted from the trees even sooner than last time, and came back even sooner as well. Every time, the gap between each season became shorter and shorter. They hadn't kept track of how many times it had happened from the start, so it was hard to gauge exactly how long they had been there, unmoving, alone with their thoughts, crying out to no one.
At some point, they had considered why Manaphy hadn't returned. Manaphy was a cheeky little creature, but not at all heartless, and Remy was always returned to normal before long. Did something happen to them? Maybe someone caught them. Maybe Manaphy couldn't find Remy's body. And for that matter, what had become of the statue inside Remy's body? Statues didn't have souls… right? Maybe they declared their body-
But, at some point, they stopped thinking about it. Not because they forgot, but because there was no point. They weren't ever getting out of this. An eternity of immobility, of being seen not as the little raccoon they once were, but as a lump of stone, an effigy of a dragon in honour of someone else's life.
At least I'm a pretty cool statue, I guess?

well that's kinda disturbing, being stuck as a statue forever while your body is basically braindead
Admittedly, “that’s kinda disturbing” feels like the ultimate compliment sometimes haha
You won’t find “occasional” bad ends here - almost everything here is a bad end because I can’t help it lmaooo
But thank you!!
But thank you!!
