“Hey, Gabby,” greeted Spike as he entered the Ponyville Post Office.
“Hiya, spike!” the peppy, young griffon chirped from behind the service desk. “I’m so glad you could visit with me while I work today!”
Spike put his clawed hand to his mint-green colored chin while growing a inquisitive look on his face.
“Gabby?” he asked the green-feathered griffon. “I thought the post office was closed on Sundays?”
Gabby blushed as she reached under the desk and brought out a package marked, ‘Same Day Air’.
“Derpy,” she stated before putting a wing over her beak and looking a bit panicked. “I mean, Muffins misread this as being a ‘Next Day’ package instead of being a ‘Same Day’ package.”
The small, winged dragon sighed.
“I see,” he said. “So you volunteered to come in and deliver the package for her?”
Gabby nodded her head.
“That’s right!” she cheered. “Poor Muffins tries oh-so hard to be a mail pony and feels really bad when she makes a mistake. I’ve seen how some ponies look at her and it reminds me a lot of how the griffons back in Griffonstone sometimes look at me when I’m off spreading my ‘Griffony Sunshine’ to them when I’m delivering their mail.”
“I suppose you would know what it is like to not be like all the other griffons,” said Spike as he looked fondly up at Gabby with his emerald-green eyes. “Kind of like I felt before I first visited ‘The Dragon lands’. You just don’t know how, or where, you fit in when you just aren’t like everypony else.”
The griffon mail carrier grew a smile on her beak as she comfortably rested her head upon her wings upon the countertop.
“Definitely,” she replied in a far more serious tone. “Muffins told me about what happened a few years ago at City Hall. I guess Rainbow Dash got a little upset with her during a big remodeling job and ponies started associating her name with being a ditzy-doo of a pony.”
Spike hummed in agreement, gently nodded his head, and toddled towards the service desk.
“I’m so glad that Twilight and I have been able to do what we did to help every creature see past the things that kept us apart,” he added while resting his elbows on the countertop and lifting himself up to look warmly towards his griffon friend. “Would you like some company delivering this late package?”
“Oh!” gasped gabby as she found herself briefly off-balanced as her attention returned to why she had come into work today.
“Really?” she squawked with delight. “You don’t have anything more important to do with twilight, or your other friends?”
Spike flapped his wings as he moved himself back from the service desk and planted both of his feet upon the floor.
“I was going to take a really long bubble bath,” he replied as the smile on his face caused him to appear like he had rose-colored dimples on his cheeks. “But it’s far too nice a day to waste it falling asleep with Mr. Quacky-Quack.”
The teenage dragon did not realize what he had allowed himself to share until after he had said it. This made him blush deeply as he put his claws together and teeter-tottered from side-to-side while nervous giggles made their way out of his quivering mouth.

“Oh, Spike,” she cooed after quickly flying herself over to comfort her friend. “I have a special bath friend, too. Her name is Captain Quacksly and we sail off to fun new places to make friends while I get all squeaky preen.”
Spike went in to hug the super-friendly griffon and she wrapped her wings around him.
“So,” he said while feeling good about Gabby not making fun of him and his rubber ducky. “Where are we delivering this package to?”
Gabby chirped while quickly gathering up her mail satchel and placing the box to be delivered within its cushioned confines.
“The Crystal Empire!” she announced. “Good thing we can fly, right?”
Spike appeared a bit surprised at how far away the destination for the late delivery had to go. However…
FLA-FLAP!
WHOOSH!
“WOO-HOO!” cried the gleeful griffon as she quickly ran out of the post office and took to the sky.
“GABBY!” panicked Spike as he was forced to make a decision on whether-or-not he should follow after the spontaneous griffon gal, or return to The Castle of Friendship so that Twilight and his other pals did not worry about him.

The temptation to join Gabby to see to whom the better late than never package was for was too great to pass up. Plus, as he recalled while taking to the sky to catch up with the delivery griffon, he could always use his fire breath to send a message back to Twilight once he and gabby had finished with the delivery.
