I take my photos against a white piece of paper. I have to do a lot of magic wand and "select color range" selections to get my "white" background to actually be white and not ivory. When I take the photos they're pretty brown toned and not very clean or contrasty. The white paper makes for an easy area of similar color to select that I can then brighten without too much fuss.
I purchase fragrance oils from online bath and body supply retailers. They're often synthetic or a mix of synthetic and essential oil.
The oils used in the lip balms are of course non-toxic and lip safe... the ones I use in the candles... usually not so much, though a few of the oils I use in the candles are approved for bath and body as well: In other words, don't lick the candles and you'll be fine.
