Sometimes a bit of spontaneity is needed to get the weekend started right, at least when you end up spending the whole day with your friends. It was just reaching the end of summer and the temperatures were already beginning to cool, with a rolling breeze that jostled trees and chilled the air in just the right ways. It was thanks to the recent change in atmosphere that got the four friends talking about going on a hike together the previous night, with the local trails just beginning to change their colors along the mounded hills meaning it would be a gorgeous view to look at. Layla was super excited about the idea, as were Lakota and Fay who hadn’t had a chance to see these trails before. Nestle turned out to be a much harder sell on the idea though, as he thought it would be better to simply stay home and enjoy some games, but Fay was able to cajole the little Red Panda into tagging along.
To everyone’s surprise, it was the panda among them that happened to turn up first; a possible sign for how persuasive a Kitsune’s words could be, as Layla and Lakota arrived soon after. It was clear how excited they all were for their little expedition, as they had crystal blue skies to keep them company along their travels and so many paths to choose from. They were beginning to wonder where the black and orange Vixen could of be off to though, as they’d expected her to be first to arrive given her own exuberants for the trail, but the trio soon found their answer when they saw a black dot down the road, four legs galloping across the ground and barrelling down at tremendous speed until her form’s heavy mass came to a gliding stop in front of them. Layla couldn’t contain her laughter from the sight of it all, clutching her sides as she keeled over from her persistent giggling. It seemed the Kitsune had decided to cheat ever so slightly for the trek by shapeshifting into her taur form; afterall, why head out on a trail with just two feet when you could have four of them instead, and this way it would prevent her from being as sore the following day. Nestle for his part couldn’t help but ask if she could carry him on her back, which the Vixen warmly obliged, but that charmed expression turned slightly sour when Lakota offered her oats before they journeyed on, a line that drew a snicker from the other three to Fay’s annoyance.
With all four now finally gathered, it was time for them to venture forth and see what this natural park had to offer, which to their delight was more than plenty. Much of the area around their starting point was heavily forested, with the calming sounds of a willowing stream singing in chorus with the chips and buzzings of wildlife. Occasional flowers dotted the brush along the way accompanied by the fragrance of a recent bloom. The four of them spent hours exploring every path they could, each segmenting branch providing endless opportunities for a new sight to see or a new place to rest and soak in the tranquil bliss that surrounds them. They walked along the shores of a teal colored lake, its waters reflecting with the sinking sun to add tinges of silvery gold along its surface. For a moment it seemed the group may simply stop on the shore and see what fish might be present, or a least a certain feline was greatly campaigning for it, but there was too much left to see for the rest of the group as they decided to venture on, including Layla despite how badly she craved for salmon. By the time they had made it to the rolling hills at the end of their journey it was almost reaching sundown, golden green grass waving effortlessly with the breeze that picked up its pace as the sky grew darker. Then Fay realized as she looked out that the sun would be setting behind the mountain range far off in the distance, and she wanted to stay where they were so they’d be able to see the sun sink behind the horizon. The only issue would be that besides for some light snacks they all might have had before leaving that morning, no one had brought anything to eat, and if the sound of Layla’s belly was anything to go off of they would all start to get mighty hungry soon. After taking a moment to ponder on what to do though, Lakota remembers that there was a pizza shop not far from the entrance to the trail, no doubt trying to tempt people who’d just been burning a great many calories to come and refill their stores with delicious ‘za. Lakota would be able to fly there within 15 minutes he figured, and even be back in time for them to all enjoy both the sunset and their supper all at once. The idea sounded way too good to pass up, and the dragon soon took flight with the promise to be back in no time.
But then 15 minutes turned to 30, then 40, then 50 as the remaining three passionately awaiting for Lakota’s return. Layla was gripping her tummy at this point, and Nestle was tapping his foot as he became impatient with his stomach grumbling of protest. Though despite the Panda and Kitten’s worsening status of hunger, neither compared to the welling sensations in the belly of their Taur companion. While the walking itself was quite the breeze for Fay as they went, that didn’t change the fact that moving in this form cost her energy, more than she’d use in her normal state certainly. So when they stopped to wait to see the sunrise all that lost energy began to catch up with the Kitsune, and by the time an hour hit that feeling of ravenous hunger was beginning to become unbearable. In her growing need for sustenance though, an idea arose for how she could stave off her cravings, one she didn’t wait long to enact as the pacing panda crossed in front of her; placing her hands firmly on his shoulders, he looked up to see her orange maw just as it plunged down on top of him. The sudden gluck that came over Nestle’s head was a great surprise, and he hadn’t planned on missing out on the coming sunset they’d all been waiting for just to be Fay’s reserve snack, so the Red Panda began to wiggle and squirm as much as he could to try and break Fay’s hold. Fay was not deterred however, and it would only take a few simple gulps before the grumpy panda was sent all the way down to her storage belly, the Kitsune letting out a satisfied sign before turning her eyes to the starry blue kitten sitting next to her. Layla was too preoccupied with her own stomach to have noticed Nestle being gobbled, and when Fay snapped her maw upon her head she barely seemed fazed in the slightest, simply holding nice and still as the Vixen gentle gulped her down bit by bit unit the last of the kitten was sent on down her gullet.
Of course, just as Fay was beginning to come back to her senses was the moment that the wandering dragon just so happened to make his return, carrying a pizza in his hands and what looked to the Kitsune to be a pint of ice cream held by his tail. It seemed the greedy derg had gotten distracted along his way and grabbed some extra snacks, something he looked slightly embarrassed for when he glanced at Fay and her extended belly. Luckily Fay knew just what Lakota could do to make it up to her, as she approached and grabbed the pizza box from his hands, simply gulping it down, cardboard and all, until it came to rest in her sagging belly. Then she looked to Lakota while licking her lips, her maw extending impossibly wide as the dragon awaited the inevitable, the voracious fox slurping him down like a bowl of noodles as saliva coated every inch of him. By the time his head began to protrude inside Fay’s belly he could see Layla already munching on the freshly delivered pizza, while Nestle in his annoyance seemed more focused on protesting the dining arrangements then simply enjoying his supper. The dragon was not too perturbed by the outcome, however, as this just meant there’d be more pizza for him in the end, and he’d have plenty of ice cream to share once his tail came down to join them. For Fay though, it looks like she’ll get plenty of time to enjoy both the sunset and that nice full belly of hers before she’d have to worry about dinner. All’s well that ends well after all, especially if that ending is an impromptu pizza party!
