The Gongols are a semi-nomadic people hailing from Eastern Yaztheria. Despite being a single race of people they are culturally split between two main distinct cultures, Northern and Southern Gongol. Northern Gongols are the mongolic inspired population who live in nomadic tent cities and villages, moving around the steppe and hills with their herds and horses. The Southern regions of the Gongol homeland are more similar to Yuan Chinese culture with settled cities and villages while still retaining some of the aesthetic and cultural beliefs and customs of the nomadic Gongols. Both however are the same people and across their steppe homeland the two have mixed with cities and towns on any fertile land available and any mineral rich hills, with the large less fertile open steppes are home to the nomadic population. Normally friendly and honorable, the Gongols want nothing but to see their people continue to thrive and form the best cavalry the Empire has ever seen. Known as "The Scourge of God" the Gongols have come to view themselves as the living embodiment of God's wrath, striking down all who dare oppose peace in the world as a unstoppable horde of steel and horses
Baatar is the Gongol word for "warrior" and is used to describe the standard warriors formed in the Gongol armies. While all Gongols are good at range and melee combat the Baatar are Gongols who are better in Melee combat than ranged and so are organized into melee cavalry units. These warriors go into battle with a axe, sword, shield, lance, mace, or combination of them. They also wear actual armor in the form of metal shoulder guards, arm guards, and chest armor such Laminar or Scale armor made out of metal. Often they are used to engage in close quarters combat with enemys who are either disorganized (mostly from taking arrow fire from the gongols) or lightly armored. This is when they either charge straight into the enemy, split into two sections and each curve around to hit the sides, or form a half moon shape to envelope the enemy units and then slam into them from all sides
