It's that time of the year for themed stuff. Instead of doing corporatized daily prompts, I found time for a set that was planned for 2021, when Delta came along and put a dent in it.
The set is a thin slice of exploration into furry's media past. As best as I can gather, best as I could understand, from a personal perspective. a walk down memory lane for some, a fresh introduction for others.
Starting off with something from waaay before my time and well into 'vintage' category: The underground comix scene, when funny animals were used in human stories to add whimsy, for parody, and perhaps to soften depictions like sex and drugs. Golden geezers, feel free to correct this chappie's assessment
Everyone knew Crumb and Fritz the cat, he's got plenty of spotlight, so I went to looking for others to shine the light on and decided on two titles for the era:
Left - Bullet Crow by chuckfiala
Right - Cutey Bunny by Joshua Quagmire, who I think doesn't have an FA
I'm certain there're more that I've to overlooked, would love to do more if I could find refs, but I'm also strapped for time as this is but the first of a few more sets to come. should more titles and interest arise, i could do supplementary follow-ups.
Tittilating panel filler extras @ Patreon . just tits, couldn't get permission in time for anything harder

These look great! Bullet Crow wasn't an actual underground and only contained Bonnie Bunny topless nudity. If it had been underground, there would have been more nudity.
got the tits going on though.
the history is cloudy enough as it is, constrained by time to get a showcase piece done. so i guess a more proper framing would be pre-mainstream acceptance as a genre

Female breasts were fairly mainstream in media when I started the strip in the 70's. The are much more censored now in American media.
A lot of furries nowadays arrogantly assume that furry fandom started with the internet. In other words, with them. (sigh) Pictures like this remind us that talking animals have been around for a very, very long time.
Ahhh, the 80s Characters. Same time frame Red Shetland was coming out, along with Panda Khan and Erma Felna.
Great job on Bullet Crow.
And yes, Quaggie has no FA account.

'Cutey Bunny' kinda looks like an Anthro'd Rule 34'd Cyborg from DC comics.
OMG QTBunny?!!! ...like I never have anythin' that makes me deel ancient?! heh... Do 'the lollipop gag! hehehhe ;)
I love these fandom history lessons, especially when they're about really hot characters I'd missed out on!
And damn, these characters aren't from the old school, they're from the school that got demolished to build the old school.

A worthy candidate would be Fishion Chicken, the creator and artist who produced over 20 issues -- I think -- by J.P. Morgan. Yeah... that's his real name. He was pretty reclusive, but we corresponded for a while. Unfortunately, he died young.
