Leo's Parade Diaries:
The Honours Parade
King Leo V speaking; you also know me as the superhero Captain Kriegland. The title does not have a typo in it; due to the fact I speak with an English accent, leading some to mistake me as a resident of Glouctershire, I habitually use British spellings. "Honors" is therefore spelled "honours" when I speak about awards like this. So what was the occasion? Well, it was giving somebody honours, of course.
Although we are no longer actually rulers by definition, it isn't uncommon for myself, King Lionel XVIII (of Leonine), King Lacklund (of 1776), and King Ross II (of Ratatat) to still be addressed and/or treated as royalty, which is a kind gesture on the part of those doing so. It also isn't uncommon for us to award honours and titles similar to the how the British royal family does theirs, although in my case, there isn't a KBE, OBE, or title like that. It would have to do with the planet of Kriegland instead. For example, I had the pleasure of knighting the Marching Wonder for the services and wonders he has done for the world and universe, and so he is Sir Leo Sanchez, or Sir Leo the Tiger, OKOK. (OKOK means "Officer of the Kingdom of Kriegland," similiar to how an OBE is an "Officer of the British Empire.") Likewise, when I gave honours to Barbara Olson, one of Kriegland's top female combat nurses, she became Dame Barbara Olson, MKOK. ("M" is for "member;" likewise, a "C" would be "Commander", and "K" means "Knight." NOTE: the extra O was put in there to avoid using the abbreviation KKK, because KKK means Klu Klux Klan. I want nothing to do with those people!)
Today, I was planning to surprise the tiger's amazing human friends who can shapeshift into multiple animal forms, Blue and Pink, with the same idea, but first, we got them to perform music with us. Both are known for playing their special ocarinas, or "Flutes of Time," but the lion who rules the Toppet Kingdom (home to Blue and Pink), King Santos, wanted to see how Blue would adapt to learning a new instrument. Thus, Blue had a few occasions, where, as one of his animal forms, he was beating a bass drum. He drummed for the honor of the king, and the king was delighted, arising to his feet and giving the hero the military salute. Because of that, many of us wanted to see Blue beat the drum. He agreed to do so, and did so as a lion. (Pink, meanwhile, continued to toot her flute.)
The Marching Wonder, decked out in his traditional green but performing on his paws as well, played his own unique field drum, the Booming Snare, to magically give us a feeling a patriotism as we marched down the secret hallways from the tiger's house, through Dark Wolf's castle, and into my large palace's throne room. Along the way, other lions made up the majority of the parade, including my Royal Ensemble, King Lionel and his own Royal Ensemble, the Lion Pride Band (all anthro versions of lions from "The Lion King" franchise, with Simba as the drum major), and Lonnie Lionus (the Macho Major) and his Drumbum Lions. However, I led the Royal Ensemble at the front of the parade. Blue, Pink, and Leo followed later.
All the animals marched barefoot, but wore the appropriate uniforms. I, however, was decked out in traditional royal clothing, wearing my regal crown all the way. That way, I could do a royal processional to my throne.
When we got to my throne room, there were royal guards lined up on either side, and the Royal Ensemble took their positions on either side, with the trumpets closest to the steps leading up to my throne. I walked up in solemn procession and sat down on the throne, as Leo, Pink, and the other marchers took their appropriate places. This was due to the fact Blue was playing a solo for me, and while quarter notes on a bass drum sounds boring and monotonous, he did so because the point of doing this for a good chunk of measures was to show that he could adapt to anything well. I saw it as a sign of Blue being a true hero, because while Kriegland had a history of being behind the times as CNG wanted it, many of us thought of adapting to change and trying new things as a good quality. Some of our finest heroes did just that. You can find out more if you visit the museum of Kriegland's history, curated by Drake the Tiger, the proud father of Leo the Tiger, and a legendary prodigy of percussion himself.
After Blue finished his drum solo, he came to a halt, wondering if he had to do any more drumming. Instead, I told him to stand at parade rest, which he did, and that he was to detach his drum, which he did. I then rose to my feet, prompting a drum roll from all the drummers in the room (due to the fact they had been let in on the secret), and I let the sounds build the suspense before I reached for my sword. Blue and Pink both gasped at the sight, but quickly snapped to their senses, and the male lion cub put himself down in the correct position. Eventually the roll came to an end at the sound of the trumpets.
"For your heroism and bravery you have shown and display battling for the forces of good in your native Toppet Kingdom, and in the other nations of the world," I announced, "I hereby dub thee...Sir Blue!" I put the sword on Blue's shoulder (without injuring him) and did the other appropriate gestures. I then did the same with Pink and hailed her "Dame Pink." Each one then posed and made a comment, accepting their honours. (I forgot what the comment was; how embarrassing.)
Several more rounds of music followed, and Blue was now allowed to play his flute.
Later, all the monarchs (including myself) visited Blue and Pink at Leo the Tiger's house, asking how the twins felt about being honored. They said it was one of the best things that happened to them. Then they noticed that King Lacklund's son, also called Lacklund (Prince Lacklund to be specific). At first, Blue wasn't happy about it, because the prince used to be a deviant deliquent, who was bratty, idiotic, and was doing crazy things just because he wanted to be a superhero. However, now in his teenage years and closing in on adulthood, he had clearly shown some signs of maturity, and he demonstrated this in his apology, and his gift; the gift was a bouquet of flowers for each twin. "Don't forget to put these in water," he said.
This visit was just a time to visit, and the group of us played a few board games together to help relax, some of which Blue and Pink won, but others, the prince won. Still, the point was to have fun, and we did.
