Dylan was a shy Asian teen. He had recently moved to a new town and was starting his first day at his new school today. After recently turning sixteen he was as anxious as you would expect for a boy his age but fairly timid on top of that. With his sleek black hair and smooth brown eyes he would be considered cute by most people and his thin frame and average height left him as not being the most intimidating.
Out the front of the school he walked in with his bag on back and orange jacket done up keeping him warm. He kept to himself as he passed other students chatting or wandering as people prepared for the first day classes. Dylan reached into his pocket to pull out a note. It was from the school and told him to go to the careers office to talk with the school careers adviser for help getting settled in.
"Ok so room 3-K." He says looking at all the coded rooms. He saw 2-B , 2-C and 2-D but nothing relevant to 3-K. While he was in thought with trying to figure out where to go the bell rang and the crowded halls sprung to life as students walked to their classes. Dylan blushed lightly being a bit nervous in the crowded as people moved by and after three minutes the halls were dead silent as classes filled.
"Hey you lost?" Someone asks from behind him. Dylan turns and licks his lips nervously before speaking.
"Yea. I am looking for room 3-K. I am new and need to see the careers adviser." He says nervously as he faces the man. He was young only about twenty and had a clean smooth face, brown hair cut short and neat and gem like green eyes. He wore a white t-shirt with a thin grey vest over the top. He had light blue jeans and black shoes looking smartly casual.
"Well that would be me. Samuel Tarm." He says holding out his hand. Dylan waits a moment before springing forward to grab his hand shaking it.
"I am Dylan Trasser Mr Tarm."
"Please call me Sam. I am not much older then you students so you can skip the formalities." He says with a wink. "Now my office is down that hall up there and to the left." He points and wanders that way slowly. "We will get you a map today." He laughs.
"Thank you." Dylan says slowly becoming more confident with his speaking.
They wandered past several classrooms which Dylan peeked into to see a variety of classes. English, maths, history, geography the list went on. When they reached room 3-K Dylan noticed through the doors window it was a modest office room. It had enough room to wander around with a deck at the wall with a computer on it. A window was to the left of it and looked out over the school's yard. Concrete and tables with some trees and gardens made it a pleasant sight.
"Come on in." Sam says smiling as he opens the door to let young Dylan through. Dylan nods and enters still nervous but feeling calmer than before. "So Dylan take a seat if you wish. Feel free to put down your bag and relax." He adds closing the door and sitting down behind his desk stretching his legs as he gets comfortable.
"Thanks." Dylan says putting his bag next to the chair in front of Sam's desk and gently sitting himself onto the blue fabric chair. He sat his hands on his lap and fidgeted with them a little. No matter how calm he felt at this point a new school was still intimidating for him.
"So Dylan I went over your profile and say the classes you selected. You picked some good ones. It should be fairly easy to move into them and interact with your new classmates. Students here tend to be open and accepting." Sam says with his continuous smile as he looks up Dylan on the computer. "You can feel relaxed and don't need to worry about anything here." He adds trying to keep Dylan calm.
"Thank you Mr Tarm. I mean Sam. I am just a bit shy so I may take a while to get used to it." Dylan fidgets with his fingers a bit more before smiling up at Sam.
"That's ok. Since you will be joining the school a little after the year began and you will need to get used to life here you can come back here every day. I am always here for when students feel worried or concerned. I am here to keep them feeling good and relaxed at school." He sits back looking down at the anxious teen. "Would you like me to set it up so you can come see me whenever you are concerned?" He asks.
"Oh that could be useful thank you. You are easy to talk to." Dylan smiles joyfully. Sam notices his smiling and more relaxed tone and looks at his jacket.
"Thats a nice jacket you have on. A nice vibrant orange." He changes the topic which brings up a look of confusion for Dylan. The young guy looks over his jacket before looking back up.
"Yea it is my favorite." He says a bit awkwardly. Sam goes back to looking over the computer screen at Dylan when something catches his eye.
"Dylan is says here you have a bit of anxiety and feel stressed in large groups. How much of a problem is that?" He asks looking over at Dylan's nervous eyes. Dylan was taken back by this. Ironically he was anxious about people knowing about his anxiety. But he knew it was for the best.
"Yea I do. It makes it difficult to do things in groups or speak up. One on one isn't as bad but in groups it is scary." He seems to almost cower into his seat like a frightened puppy.
"Are you getting any help for it? Says you don't have anything to treat it. Just that you need time to adjust and to not be pointed out. Is that really the case?"
"Yes it is. I will slowly merge with the rest of the kids and talk to them. But it could take some time as it is fairly frightening." His demeanor becoming more anxious as he speaks.
"Have you not considered hypnotherapy or something similar?" Sam says looking at his with a more professional stance than before. Dylan looks up at him and tilts his head lightly.
"Hypnotherapy? No well. I mean I knew it was an option. But I never really considered it. Always seemed too difficult to me." He says drawn in by the strange question of Sams.
"Well it’s fairly easy. I can help you with it if you want. It is all about relaxing gently and being calm. Simply focusing on your breathing." He says pausing for a moment as he himself breaths deeply. "Simple as that." He smirks. Dylan couldn't help but breath in and out as Sam did.
"I am not sure. I don't know about it?" He says rubbing his shoulder.
"That's fine. No need to do anything. Nothing to get you stressed. Just stay relaxed and calm in your favorite jacket." Sam pauses again to breath in. "That nice comfy jacket." He says looking down and smiling at Dylan. Dylan was confused. As he listened to the words being spoken by Sam he felt himself getting calmer and almost sleepier. His eyelids flickered gently every time he said a word like comfy or relaxed. Sam saw this and let a faint smirk reach his lips.
"My nice comfy jacket?" Dylan says as he arms slowly relax and he feels his jacket.
"Yea the comfy and soft material. The nice sensation of wearing it on your skin. Feels so good to lay back and just relax in it. In the nice and comfy jacket." Sam says breathing slowly and rhythmically as Dylan mimics. "So relaxing. So tiring. It would be good to rest wouldn't it? After this long and stressful morning." Dylan couldn't keep himself going much longer. His whole body was calming and his mind going blank as he looked up at Sam. Sam this whole time never broke eye contact. Those mesmerizing green eyes kept Dylan's attention and he relaxed quickly and meaningfully.
"Just sleep?" Dylan asks a bit confused by the words showing clear signs of Sams manipulations working. With a grin Sam walks around the desk and smiles gently down at Dylan with eye contact still going.
"Yes Dylan. Just relax and sleep." He says putting his hand on his shoulder and gently pushing him forward. This very minor motion made Dylan slump down. His arms down the sides of his legs and his eyes shut as his head slumped in front of him completely relaxed and sleepy.
Sam smiled at his work. This wasn't the first student he had put under through conversation and Dylan would likely not be the last.
"Just relax and listen Dylan. You know there is nothing to worry about. And you know that you will feel better after this. You know how good it feels to just relax and sleep so deeply." He speaks to him no longer touching his shoulder. "Now Dylan everyday at class you will come here until I tell you otherwise. Nothing else will matter. But when you hear that lunch bell you put your things away and come here. Nothing stopping you. It will feel like the best feeling to come here and relax." Sam had his plan and was putting it into action. Planting the post hypnotic suggestions into Dylan's young and calmed mind. "And whenever I tell you to you will relax back down. You know the power I have for you and you like it. It is good. But you don't know and won't remember. Just remember the benefits of it." Sam then looks at the clock on the wall. "Now time to wake up Dylan. At the count of three when I snap my fingers coming right back to full awareness and feeling happy, confident and refreshed. Three. Two. One." Sam says snapping his fingers. Dylan's eyes flutter open and he pulls himself up looking around a bit confused.
"Did I doze off?" He asks this time however not nervous or concerned just simply with a grin.
"You just tuned out for a second. It is perfectly fine. Can happen to anyone." Sam laughs gently. "Well it is almost time for second period. I will take you to your home group teacher." Sam says going to the printer. "And here. A map and a time table. Shall we get going?" He asks handing over the two pages.
"Thank you Sam." Dylan smiles and takes the pages. He stands up and gets his bag onto his back. "Please lead the way." He smiles.
"As you insist." Sam says walking out and as Dylan comes out he closes the door. The two went about the rest of their tour and introduction to the school and Sam had Dylan return every lunch for several weeks to take him under hypnosis each time. Dylan had no memory of the sessions but he was showing the benefits of them.
