A ratfolk thief performs a summoning of a powerful demon to aid him after a botched job - a demon who suffers some indigestion that might be more than the rat bargained for. Bites belongs to me, Bharus belongs to my friend Jaded.
The town of Scythe Bay was a bustling port town on the titular bay by the ocean, an important area of commerce for the land of Greendale - ships from all other came in to offload goods, and several major roads lead into the metropolis. As such, many merchants wheeled and dealed here, as did many artisans, craftsmen and laborers. Many shadier businesses also flourished here, which included a prominent thieve's guild. One of these guild members was Bites, a brown furred ratfolk with a chunk of left ear missing and scarring on his snout (hence his name), and an accomplished thief. He was also a poor thief, as he had to survive on the scraps of the city. A big payday was yet to find him, though he hoped one day that dream would materialize.
Tonight was supposed to be an easy job - steal some low level wizard's hourglass because he was late on his debt payments. Bites didn't want to mess with those dirty debt collectors, and it was easy because the wizard wasn't at home. Unfortunately, he messed up; something tripped, he had no idea what, but it unleashed a pack of dire wolves, lethal and mean, to deal with the intruder. So the rat ran for his life through the twilight, cold streets and alleys, trying to elude his pursuers with all he had. But things went from bad to worse as the rat ended up in a dead end lot surrounded by high buildings. "N-No!" he yelped. He could hear the pack closing in.
He rooted through his pack and pulled out a candle and some chalk. One of his contacts, a summoner, said this kit (which Bites paid a lot for) would aid him with a powerful being if he was in danger. The rat figured now was a good time for it. He quickly drew a summoning circle and hastily lit the candle by striking a match against his buck teeth - then a little blood from his palm via knife. Now for the words...what were the words? "S-Sayaka...L-L-Lecto...uh...Infer-infernus, kandala..." The last word was out of reach. "...CALISTI!" Okay, fire demon lord, come out, he hoped!
There was silence for a few moments. He began to wonder whether he had done something incorrectly. However, out of the space, a circle of flames began to form, spinning itself faster around the summoning kit until a ball of fiery light formed itself at the center. At that point, a loud boom resounded, and a plume of smoke covered the space. It appeared that the ritual had been completed. In the center of the circle, a large, stalky silhouette could be seen through the faint smoke. A groan emitted from the being as two, bright glowing eyes peered out and examined the world around it. The creature finally stepped out; a large goat demon with cream colored fur, and dark brown patterns on his back and legs. With two sharp horns, orange-colored eyes, and a short fluffy tail. The tall demon peered intimidatingly down at the rat before him, snorting. "Hmf, what's this? Yet another mortal for my use?" he swished his tail impatiently, eyeing Bites down.
Bites shielded his eyes from the bright, intense fire that formed. Squeaking, he backed away until the light died down and the smoke cleared. He gaped at the huge silhouette, then looked up...all the way up at the figure standing before him. Bites was normally a short fellow even among mortalkind...but the height of this creature was nothing like he'd ever encountered. He approached closer, trembling. Up close, one could see he wore an old tunic with a lowered hood, a sack slung over his back, and a belt with various pouches attached to it. "U-Uh, um, uh," he stammered. Suddenly, the dire wolves appeared, the entire pack, glaring in the dark. "H-H-Help me! Oh powerful one, destroy the enemies you see before you!" he wailed. Wait, was this the big fire lord that summoner said he'd get? He didn't expect...a goat.
The goat raised an eyebrow at the frantic rodent before him. He saw the several threats closing in around and chuckled. "Help you? Now what in the gods makes you think that I would fall servant to such a low-level being!" A few of the wolves got even closer, yet the demon did not seem too alarmed by this at all. Although he was powerful, his business would almost have nothing to do with protecting, let alone for a thief.
The dire wolves crept closer, growling, while the thief looked more and more terrified. This wasn't what he was expecting at all! "B-But I summoned you for aid! You must!" he protested. "I-I-I'm pretty sure I did the ritual right..." He got down on his knees, hands clasped together. "Please help me, mighty demon! I'll do anything!"
The beast saw the pleading rat before him and sighed. "Alright, fine... You seem worthy of a favor." The large bovine stood up, the crowd of wolves almost looked like puppies in comparison to his size. Right as the horde was growling loudly and going to lunge at Bites, the demon dashed forwards and swung at one with his strong forehoof. His eye's were glowing a burning orange as the canine creature was flung to the ground. And, in as quick as an instant, the goat lifted it off the ground and devoured the beast with surprising ease. Some of the wolves went in to attack Bites, while others tried to escape. However, the demon was quick, and scooped up one after another before swallowing them up. Thankfully, his size did most of the work for him, and soon the last dire wolf was plucked from the ground. The goat exhaled aloud, rubbing his belly, which was now notably larger and bulging than before. "You're lucky I happen to be hungry today." He sat down.
Bites crouched in the corner of the dead end, watching with a mixture of awe and fear as the behemoth goat took down the direwolf pack with ease. He couldn't help but stare at the demon's distended belly from his vicious feast. "You...you took them down...in seconds!" he marveled breathlessly. "Th-thank you, thank you so much! I thought I was a goner for sure!" He knelt and bowed his head to the creature. "I-I suppose I...I owe you one." Did this mean he was the demon's servant now? He REALLY wishes he got those words right...this was not as he expected. "M-My name is Bites, m'lord."
The demon smirked at the welcome, he leaned down a little lower to get to Bites' level. "Well, it's my pleasure t-" he was interrupted by a loud, thick burp that escaped as he spoke. "Ooh, pardon me. I think I ate those creatures faster than I thought!... Well, mortal, you have permission to call me Bharus." He cleared his throat. He took note of some of the sacks the rat had with him. "What exactly did you do to get into this predicament anyways?" he asked, picking his teeth.
Bites flinched at the beast's hot, meaty breath from the burp hitting him. He wiggled his nose a little. At least the goat seemed well mannered...an oddity in these parts of town. "Nice to meet you, Bharus...Lord Bharus," he said, quickly correcting himself just to be safe. "Er...well m'lord, I was...on a job, y'see," he said, noticing the goat eyeing his equipment. Those slit eyes were rather unsettling. "I...I was procuring a certain hourglass from a certain mage for certain interested parties, and uh, well, I think I set off some sort of trap that summoned those horrible wolves!"
Bharus's eyes narrowed on the rat as he spoke. "So you ARE a thief after all, eh? Just as I expected. Well, if there's one type of low class who would take from others to their own benefit, it would be those like you." The goat had a deep voice, and initially sounded distasteful to Bites' occupation. "However, as I was summoned by you, I shall not detest for whatever you concern yourself with." He put a hand back on his gut, it was grumbling to the point where Bites could almost see it moving beneath the demon's arm. Bharus flinched, "Mmf, although... you do owe me for this."
Bites was used to hearing such things; the rat merely bowed his head. "Thank you for your kindness, m'lord. I am in your debt for saving my life!" His gaze lingered on the goat's stuffed, gurgling belly. Well, there was quite a bit of direwolf to digest. The rat tried not to think about it too much. He then realized something. "Uh, master Bharus...isn't the summoning supposed to wear off by now? Like...you going back to the demon realm."
Bharus noted this too. "Typically, yes. Unless I was summoned for a long term purpose, of course." He groaned from some discomfort that was starting to build up. "Curse this, I think that all the organic material inside me is causing some delays... ooh" the goat pressed down on his extended belly, which only resulted in a much longer, deeper burp to erupt from his system. A bitter smell was cast along with it until his release died down. Bharus fanned at the air in front of his mouth, his belly not seeming to be dying down either. "I should've known not to risk myself with this mortal world!" He uttered while squinting.
The great goat's burp echoed down the alley, causing Bites' hair to stand on end briefly. "W-Well...frankly I wasn't expecting you to arrive, m'lord. I...was trying to summon a fire demon instead and I guess I got the words wrong, h-hahaha," he said, laughing nervously. He tapped his fingers together. "Ah...w-well, perhaps I should be heading home now..."
Bharus lowered himself down as he clutched his belly, the pain wasn't seeming to get any better either. Even moreso, he couldn't handle the idea of being left looking so vulnerable in front of a potential servant. "W-wait, mortal, do not leave yet. I... need some assistance." The goat tried not to sound as desperate as he knew he appeared. He winced as his bulging gut started to roar. Just then, however, he lifted his tail as a beastly, meaty fart started to rumble out from the demon's backside. It shook against the ground he sat on before sputtering out slowly. "Rhmf, this does not look good..."
Bites jumped as the demon's flatulence roared out of his furry butt. It was unlike anything Bites ever heard, and the heavy stench that followed was hot and ripe. "Oh...OOF, oh my, that...!" Bites turned his head and vigorously shook his nose. "Ah, wow..." He had no idea if a demon could fart, but the evidence was now before him. As Bites took in the scene, he found it oddly exciting that such an intimidating behemoth would be helpless against his own bodily function. "U-Um...how can I help you, m'lord? Perhaps..." Well, one can't just leave a giant goat sitting out in the alleyways. "...perhaps you can come home with me, I might have something you can take."
Bharus sighed, but agreed to follow Bites back to his home for some extra help with relief. Although, he wanted to make sure no one would spot him out in the open, especially due to his size, so the demon did his best to stay low and quiet along the way. He could be heard getting out of breath from lugging around the "package" he had eaten, and he tried to keep any excess gasses from escaping as they both walked for a little longer. "Tell me, little rodent, are we getting any closer? I- can't keep this up for much longer!" Bharus asked, suppressing a belch.
Bites lead the way, leading Bharus down more darkened alleys and streets, heading towards the fringes of the town. It seemed to get more and more rundown as they went. All the while, he was conscious of the beastly goat hovering close...and the rat wondered what would stop him from just devouring him in one gulp. The rat shivered but brushed the thought aside. "Just a little longer, lord Bharus!" he said. Eventually they reached a townhouse that may have once been respectable...but no longer. Shabby doesn't begin to describe the facade. Bites flung the door open. "In here, m'lord," he said. "Quickly, before someone sees us!" The goat may have to crawl on all fours for this one.
Although the scenery around was anything but in his taste, Bharus was at least relieved to finally get some shelter. The goat nodded back to bites, before ducking low and putting his head through the door first. Given how gargantuan the goat beast was in comparison to Bites, getting into the house was no easy feat. He shuffled himself a part of the way in before his circular midsection pushed itself against the entrance. He was having trouble fitting through. "Grh! Who would even think of designing a door this small!" He said in a frustrated voice. His stomach only seemed to become more audible. "Rodent, help me through!"
Bites moved like a shot, going up to the beast's belly and using his paws to try and stuff his gut through the doorframe. "R-Right away, m'lord! P-Please try not to break my frame, if you would, eheheh..." He prayed to the gods his house would withstand this.
Bharus grunted, and with the extra push from Bites, his abdomen was just able to slide the rest of the way through. The demon almost fell forwards through the door, letting out a small bbrfft from the pressure. Bharus regained himself and looked around the underwhelming interior before him. He remained crouched down so that his horns wouldn't pierce the ceiling. "... is this what you call your 'home'?" The goat said, leaning himself against a wall and holding his belly.
Bharus would be able to sit comfortably enough, but standing was pretty much out of the question. Inside, well...it wasn't much. The floorboards were old and creaky, and the windows were old and cracked. There was a fireplace, which Bites set about tending to so the inside would be warmer. Some old furniture here and there, a little stove and some piled up dishes...and not much else. "Y-Yes, this is my home. Believe me, it's a lot more than I used to have." The fireplace roared to life and Bites lit some torches. "I just need to combine this medicine, m'lord. How gassy are you feeling?"
"Well..." Bharus held one of his haunches and lifted his leg off the ground while shutting his eyes. A brassy, rotten-sounding BBBBbbbbbbfffffflrrtttpt was ejected from his rump. His gas was hot, and didn't take long for the vile odor to disperse. The goat sighed, "A lot worse than usual, unfortunately. It happens when I overeat..." the amount of gas that was trapped inside him continued to move about. He shot a more uncomfortable expression. "What do your kind typically do to relieve the pressure?"
Bites held his breath until the stink dispersed, though he couldn't help but find amusement in how the demon's tail flapped from the fart. Such a crude act help put the rat at ease, the goat a little less intimidating...though of course he wouldn't dare to say this. "When we feel bloated, we just drink an herbal mixture." Bites carefully crushes up said herbs at a wood table held up on one leg with stacked books, then added some water and stirred. He made sure to put it in a big bowl. Finally, the rat brought it over to Bharus, carefully avoiding spilling any. "Here you go, lord Bharus. Drink up and it'll bring you relief." He made a point to open some windows, however.
Bharus watched as the rat made a simple concoction before him. He sniffed the bowl cautiously, not knowing what to expect from it, but finished the whole thing in a few swigs shortly after. "Hmm, an interesting potion... well let us hope that it works soon, because I- ooh-" the beast groaned, it felt as though the drink had gone to work faster than he anticipated. His digestive system sloshed and bubbles as he could feel large amounts of gas move towards the exit. "Oh my, I think I feel things coming" the goat widened his stance a little, his fluffy tail lifting a little higher in preparation. A loud PPBBLRRT followed by several forceful blffft's made their way out Bharus' rear. The demonic farts carried with them a burning, meaty stench, which made his nose flinch for a moment.
Bites stood back and watched Bharus after preparing his home. "Pee-yew!" he cried, getting a whiff of what the goat was putting out. A lot more gas would come rushing through the demon's bowels and colon, and more up his throat. "I...I must say, you have a cute fluffy tail, m'lord," he said, smiling slightly.
"Cute? I'll have you know that I am one of the most respected demons of my class! I cannot possibly be- buuoooaarp... -cute" Bharus detested, another powerful burp interrupting him. He tried to pay no mind to it, he felt more gas that needed to come out. The goat grunted and farted yet again with a BBBbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrffffsssssrrRRRrrrrrss which stayed at a rubbery volume, but fluctuated in pitch. The bovine's tail would lift up and down each time he would push, and the trail of gas only continued on.
The goat's farts shook the floorboards and rattled the windows, and Bites couldn't help but chuckle at the reaction...but hid his snout so Bharus wouldn't see. "Of course, m'lord. I apologize for my insolence," he said. "You're doing good, though. J-Just relax and push and let it all out, y'hear?"
Bharus flicked his ears, he hadn't had this kind of bowel troubles in a long while. And by the size of his belly, he still had a good amount left in him. "Hng, my body can't do it's work in this position." The bovine said. He shifted himself around to when his head and upper half were against the floor, and his rump was sticking up into the air. It took only a second before another acrid wave of flatus practically exploded out of his rear, resounding with a PPBBBRRRRRAAAAAPPPPppbbbbbbbbbffffffffffftt, and shook the area around him. The goat's tail was standing straight up at this point, and his tongue was hanging out of his mouth while his butt was expelling gas at a high rate. The behemoth's fart grew wetter, as he lifted his leg a little more to get more power as it went on. The room they were in was practically filled with an ungodly potent smell that even the windows couldn't do much against. Eventually, Bharus's fart trailed off into silence before stopping. The demon was panting by the end of it, but appeared to be in bliss from the relief he was experiencing.
Bites stood as the demon let off everything he could, mighty butt in the air. Bites was knocked back into his chair from the acrid, hot stink filling the house, the smell of rancid meat and sulfur. He watched the goat finally experience sweet relief, the rat clutching his knees and at last seeing the goat's wind dying down. He coughed, wiping his watery eyes. "Oh gods...it will be a week before I air this place out..." he moaned to himself. He slid off his chair and approached the demon. "Uh...you alright, m'lord?"
Bharus lowered his rear from the air and did a small fanning motion with his tail. His belly was now appearing a lot smaller from what it was not long ago. "Yes, I'm fine... Although I haven't experienced something like this in years!" A wet, low pitched pprrrrrrrppppt trailed out of the goat's back end once again. Going on for a span of several seconds "I do hope that this abode of yours has good ventilation, though. My gas does seem to be more potent than usual." He said before releasing a quiet belch on top of it. Thankfully, it looked as if Bites' remedy was working well.
Bites grabbed a threadbare rug and tried to fan the air too. “W-Well, not really. Open windows is about as good as it gets. B-But don’t worry about it!” The last thing he wanted was to offend a demon. “What was the last time this happened to you? Did it happen in front of other demons?”
Bharus was a little off-put from the personal questions at first, but he figured that the rat had returned him enough favors for him to gain a bit of respect. "Hrm, it's hard to say. I was always known for the immensity of my appetite back then, so there were more than a few occasions where... digestive 'mishaps' would happen." The large demon tried to hide a faint blush. "The others in my group would always jokingly comment to keep their distance from me. Especially from those damned instance in those cramped rooms!" He snorted. A high pitched frapppt flew from his butt. He cleared his throat and composed himself. "But- I will not let some petty bodily troubles get in the way of my work!"
Bites figured that the goat might be a little lacking in the friends department, which he opted to keep to himself. “Forgive my impertinence, m’lord...um, so, I suppose my lodging can be yours too, as your new dutiful servant. But... you may have to simply sleep on the floor.” Bites felt like turning in after an eventful night sounded good. Bharus may notice a single blanket and pillow on the floor near the corner over some straw - Bites’ bedding.
Bharus shot a distasteful look upon hearing about his sleeping situation. "The floor? You cannot expect me to just-" He looked around the room, which was still quite small compared to his size, and recalled his lack of options. The goat demon sighed. "Well, rodent, I suppose you have acted well in returning my favor, so whatever place in mind shall suffice for now." he got up to reposition himself to an empty space adjacent to Bites' bedding, where he laid himself down and rested his head on the ground. "Although I must warn, I am known to get slighty 'windy' in my sleep, so don't end up surprised if I happen to wake you up by accident." The goat said, getting comfortable.
Bites chuckled. “Thanks for the warning.” He curled up with his blanket, though the smaller rat shivered again. The house was drafty even with the fireplace and the ‘hot gases’ in the air. So he simply cuddled up against the big demon’s furry bulk.
Bharus perked up upon feeling something pressing against his fur. He was surprised to see Bites getting so close, physical contact with mortals was not something he was used to. "Erm, Excuse me?" He asked quietly. Then again, however, he had an odd sense of a bond forming between the two of them, so he wasn't as quick to detest.
Bites rolled away after hearing this. “Ah! Oh, s-sorry, I was just trying to warm up a little, m’lord. Ignore me!”
"No no, rodent. Don't be repelled by my demeanor! If it's warmth you want, you may....... come as close as you wish." Bharus said. He originally wouldn't care much for the conditions of his summoners, yet it was the least he could do for someone who helped with his own troubles.
The rat seemed to perk up at this. “D-Don’t mind if do!” he declared, then huddled against the great goat and sighed. “Much better. Goodnight, Lord Bharus.”
