god the panel composition and the facial expressions in this comic are so fuckin' good.
I bet the "hungry all the time" part isn't helping his mood - or his patience...
Guess he hasn't been able to find enough eggs...
But we've already seen that the Hollow provides fish and insect protein as well. And can't martens also eat non-protein foods too? I always thought they were more omnivores rather than pure carnivores, which should allow Rask to fit in a lot more easily.

I hope you're not bothered by the late response. I apologize if so.
I just wanted to chime in as a (big game) hunter (whole family is), mustelid lover, and owner of ferrets.
Not all mustelids are obligate carnivores, Weasels, ferrets, mink, martens are though. This is why Egg would fare a bit better on their current diet that Rask would.
They need a lot of protein. They tend to wean incredibly young and mom brings meat because they can't get enough nutrients from mom's milk for long.
They also have short g.i tracts so what they eat needs to be quick and easy to digest. They can eat fish, bugs or eggs but it certainly isn't enough nutrient-wise.
A human example, you need a certain amount of fat in your diet. If you eat just lean meat extensively (rabbits, squirrels, pronghorn) your body will still starve because it's not getting enough nutrients. Without enough fat your body can't really process vitamins and such.
This tends to be why carnivores don't eat other carnivores. Carnivore meat will be very lean and very tough, it takes a lot of energy to chew and digest but doesn't give enough nutrients in return.
Not all meats are equal, especially for obligate carnivores.
As an owner of ferrets they can eat a lot. If you had to subsist on minnows and crickets you'd feel like death too, it just wouldn't be enough, even if you ate large amounts.
In front of you is a nice slab of elk (or beef if you prefer) but you can't have it. Just the minnows and moths, that's it'd be frustrating as all get out. Rask is going through hell, and all it take is one mouse or prairie dog to ease his woes a lot. He's well aware of that.
The same issue the main wolves are having. The bison have migrated, small prey has seemingly vanished. So they take to bugs, which is nowhere near enough in sating nor nutrients.

To be fair, wolverines and martens ARE both mustelids. One is just a slinky little noodle, and the other is a big ol' brick.
Furthermore, within the family Mustelidae, martens and wolverines belong to subfamily Guloninae, while weasels, for example, belong to subfamily Mustelinae, so martens and wolverines are more related among themselves than with other mustelids.
"Oh? You're that interesting?"
"How ... counter-productive."
This page has a couple of the best lines in the entire comic, right there.
Also love Rask's pose in panel two.

I am sure "bite it into them" in this case is a pred turn of phrase. And it's amazing to see that folded into the world building.
Very cute that Sibyl tries to improve the mood of Rask, also wow, what a big fangs has that marten
The perfect use of an understated truth to de-escalate. I love Sibyl!
And now fate will give Rask a point to shine and show the Hollow what he can acomplish for it that only he is able to. Either be a mediator for the wolf pack and the Hollow (I could see him and perhaps prey animals of the Hollow helping hunt with the pack for their food so they leave them alone) or be the new main protector of the Hollow against predators. After all I would guess max 2 more pages before the news of the wolf pack now knowing that there is no bear anymore reaches the Hollow.
Rassskkkk noooo my sweet little forest noodle! *Smothers with hugs* the fans love you xD break the 4th wall n come here!
