I sat down on Christmas day and decided I wanted to draw Ratchet, so I did!
...aaaand I kept going and going and, well, this is the result.
I tried a couple of new techniques with this one, and I think it paid off :3
Note: Yes he's supposed to look buffed up/stocky, I just think it suits him. :P

Alright, make a new layer on top of the layer containing the colours. Set the layer mode to "colour dodge" and fill it with black - there should be no effect on the colour, as black is invisible in this layer mode. Then, get a large brush with a soft edge, and select white as the foreground colour. Finally, set the opacity of the Brush Tool to just 10%, and start stroking - you'll notice it giving an effective, saturated lighting effect :3 Use it properly and things will start looking shiney!
YEEEEAHH! possibly my favorite video game hero of all time, played through the original trilogy, and deadlocked, a bunch of times, but never could afford a ps3 so I missed a couple of the games now. is that a suped up taunter? it looks like one i my opinion but I doubt it is. congrats on doing a great job, I'm just a bit surprised by the buffness of him.
I just went crazy with this pic, really! The gun isn't based off anything at all, I just invented it. If it looks like an existing R&C gun then that's a coincidence! XD

most definitely, ratchet and clank, along with jak and daxter, saved me from a sea of mediocrity when I got them. heh and kudos to making your own gadgetron (I think) gizmo, heh glad you had fun with it. hope to see more awesome artwork from you in the future.
WOW... this makes Ratchet look soooo much better than he does in the games!! But the games are pretty cool, although I haven't played it yet. I am wanting to get a PS3, though, and the first game I'm going to get for it is Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. That game looks cool, too.
Anyway, I wonder if you've ever drawn Clank in this style... I bet he'd look really cool, too.

I bet so... have you ever drawn Clank in this style, or do you still have to find time to draw him like this? I'm also going to look online and see if a Sly Cooper cane is on sale somewhere, and if there is one, I'm going to save up for that, because I am a HUGE Sly Cooper fan!
