If you read my latest journal, I'm on Linux now. I finally figured out JACK and all that crap, but I'm still unsure of what DAW to use. I whipped up this quick little thing in Ardour 7. Not really a fan of this DAW, nor how this track came out. Hard to learn and figure out, manual is poorly written, and it's overall very clunky. In fact it's so clunky and hardly usable that I didn't even bother to polish, add onto, or extend this quick song. That says a lot.
It also seems pretty bad with CPU, not utilizing its full power (I have an 8700k). The worst DSP usage usually I get on FL Studio was 50%, on Ardour it's 80% and there's tons of crackling. I can't have more than 3 Vital instances without it crackling like crazy. I don't know if Ardour or JACK is poorly optimized. (UPDATE: Turns out my CPU clock was staying low while DAWs were running, causing poor performance. I have to force my CPU into full frequency to get full performance.)
