Zereniveau "Zereni" Chouteau is the head of security of the Cannason estate.

Born and raised on Atalia, a colony that has its roots as a social experiment in creating a matriarchal society, Zereni developed a keen sense of patriotism for her homeworld at a young age, and when she was mature enough opted to go into the Atalian Space Navy, which was under the oversight and command of the Atalian queen. Even with some higher standards than Terra's own physical requirements, Zereni aced every physical and mental test thrown at her, which afforded her an opportunity to become an Iron Lady - one of the Terran Empire's most elite special forces, of which only 1001 women (and strictly women) can be in active service at any time - as part of their 'silent operations' known as a Dagger. She received genemods only reserved for special forces, including mods that added over eighty centimeters to her height, as well as psionic training to complement her Level 3 potential.

During the height of her career, she participated in missions that targeted what was then known as the Era of Strife. Rampant corruption within the Terran Empire began to cause friction between the greater Terran Empire and Terrasia, the sector Atalia belonged to, which threatened to spark another civil war. Known for implementing short-range teleportation and brutal execution methods, Zereni worked to expose many of the Empire's most corrupt federal officials and barons.

Unfortunately, Iron Ladies were only allowed ten years of active service before retirement, and Zereni's time came in 3130. She was almost immediately picked up by the Cannason estate on a personal recommendation by the Queen of Atalia herself, both to train new security detail and ensure they are working at their peak potential. After the murder of Draxel and Masama Cannason - a murder she still considers to be her oversight and thus her fault - she took to personally train their twin children, Rodaph and Varna Cannason, in the ways of the Iron Ladies.

While not nearly as old as, say, Rodaph and Zosma, Zereni is an older OC I had in mind though at the time albeit not with this profile. The name stuck with me into current times when I decided the character would be best in this role. In either case, I always had in mind this "inverted" tiger patterning for her, mainly because I thought it was unique. As for why she's an assassin despite being over eight feet tall? Eighty percent for the extra muscle and leverage it affords for taking down brutes and other larger guards (because people can get into these larger sizes in the setting), and twenty percent "because I want to".
