Dungeon and Dragons character made by an art friend of mine.
Backstory
Clickity-Klacks, Mandolin playing hero known all through The Nahib Republic, or so he thinks. Truth of the matter is that Clickity-Klacks is a Kenku bard who found a Mandolin at a local stall, understanding a bagarin could also be a sign from above. The Kenku spent the rest of his gold he earned from working on the docks to learn the basics of Barding and takes to the land for fortune and adventure.
The local inns were no longer cutting it, long hours with the same drunken hecklers. One day Clickity-Klacks heard a strange tune play over a fog cloaked beach. Such strange tunes sounded almost metallic, yet the instrument was familiar, like strings possessed. The cyan moon illuminated the creature. His skin was pale and water-logged, a sea zombie of some kind? The being had half of a face with many stories hidden beneath its visage, with a viola in its grasp, the man of the sea played its first verse. The tune shook and hummed through Clickity-Klack's body and hollowed-bones.
In the panic, Clickity-Klacks grabbed his Mandolin in a fearful grip, fingers shaking as he tried to align his fingers with the neck of the Mandolin, doing his best to reciprocate the strange creature's notes. Doing his best to match the zombie's notes and chords, but it was otherworldly. The sea zombie played music that it seemed like it would need a group with him and the ability to play in reverse. This did not disuade Clickity-Klacks, using his own voice to play a back-up instrument with his mimicry: bellowing and matching the sounds of feet stomping to the inn's floor. This was the chord that had struck.
The sea zombie stumbled in his notes as the mimicry sounded off the hearty stomps. *BUM BUM BUM*. Like merry sailors drinking to their fortunes after many months at sea. Clickity-Klacks strummed his heart out, the zombie changed to meet the Kenku's tune. The moon's ghastly shade began to alight and give to the rich cremé color that burned the shores. The demonic arco reaching harmony as the Kenku's fear gave way to a blistering triumphant. His own tune, inspiring the fire his chest as his heartbeat matched to the rhythm of a super natural duet.
And just as the song neared its close, the zombie's spell began to wither, slowly crumbling as their song came to an end. The dead man softly cackled before turning to ash before the Kenku. Almost like a promise of a temporary goodbye rather than a farewell. Clickity-Klacks would meet the dead man once more if he continued in his path of bardom. However, the uncertainty scared him.
