Celebrating my Birthday today (March 7th) with a fan art illustration of Master Splinter from TMNT.
Started this one late last year as a mix of the 1987 cartoon + Shredder's Revenge with an emphasis on his Japanese & Shinobi background.

Thank you! And I prefer the former, him being human first. I feel it makes more sense both for him being as knowledgeable and skilled as he is to teach his sons (not just ninjutsu but life skills and the human world in general), and I like that it provides him a sense of renewed purpose after unfairly losing his past life/being turned into a mutant. Being turned mutant from just being a rat might be seen as a blessing compared to the opposite. But I'm a sucker for characters with tragic stories so I'm a bit biased in that regard, heh.
Absolutely valid! I think both origins are fun to play around with so even when they go the pet rat route, or even just him being a rat living in the NYC sewers first, it offers something unique for that specific telling of their story. And thank you! I appreciate it. n_n
