I'm really, REALLY considering becoming proartist.
There's not a single day I don't think about it.
I'm having less and less interest for my current job, and working on commissions some month ago was really a pleasure as all the commissioners were adorable.
Let's be clear : I do NOT think that becoming proartist is the "easy solution". It's actually the opposite, but
at least I would have fun doing it.
If I ever choose this path, I'll make sure to improve and also propose other stuffs such as 2D/3D animation and comic and stuff.
I'm not gonna lie however : becoming pro-artist scares me a bit.
Even if I had a lot of demands regarding commissions months ago, I'm not 100% sure to have this same level of demand all the time.
And beside, being a good artist can open a lot of different paths. As long as I'm still motivated to learn, the work flow should never stop. There's also this creation of video-game I would evertually love to work again on. Erh, too much thinking, again...
But I remember all the commissioners I had were polite, patient and really nice with me. I should maybe considering opening a patreon with some nice avantages within it while keep proposing commissions. I think a lot about this.

I'll I can say is do what you love but also have a back up plan just in case. You have my support regardless if you go pro artist or not ^^.
You have my support and glad to have found you and chat with you however this is a choice you should really think on and look inside what you want.
Look deep inside Opossum heart.

With the amount of art that you produce, with such a high quality level, I'm shocked you aren't a full time artist already! I know the thought is scary, if the demand will dry up, but at least for myself, if you would be open for commissions, I would take one each and every time I could XD So you at least have one!
I wish you luck and happy times with that, though as someone who has been around the block a little bit. I would hold up on creating project's and focus on developing your base line which is your commission list/routine and getting that locked down. It is easy to have lots of ambitions and project ideas when it comes to art, but trust me when I say you don't want to spread yourself thin and find that you wear yourself out trying to accomodate comissioners and personal work.
Take your time with it, practice what you are bad at and draw what you really love most, set yourself challenges and then you will find what you're all about and it will all fall into place little by little. Don't take on too much work and burden yourself for that will slowly kill any passion you may have.
From one artist to another I believe you can do it and provide many great works and greater future works to all your fans and commissioners, so keep at it and remember to ALWAYS enjoy what you draw.

Thank you man, that's some precious advices.
I tested an entire month, late 2022, to care only about commissions, just to test.
Whenever I work on them, I turn around the idea with this thinking : "How, out the commissionner idea, I could produce a pic I would personnaly fap on?"
...
So far it worked.
And I trust you when you say that I also have to work on stuff I personnaly love, out of commissions. I really need a balance between commissions and any other personnal project.
You have a good point regarding the "too much work and burden myself slowly kills passion", and that might be my biggest doubt as I tested only on one month.
Anyway, a lot of thinking still on-going, thanks again for your advices and time.

I'd actually advise staying consistent with both if possible, just to make sure you have something to fall back on in case of an emergency.
I'm trying to put a lot of money aside for now.
I'm someone cautious. (Normaly)
Btw the freaking stock market are making me sweat atm, even I placed my money on "safe" assets. (What can be considered as safe nowaday? Tss...)

Oh trust me, as far as that goes you wouldn't want my advice on it.
Because I would speak from the perspective of a coward rather then out of out right caution. 😅

As others have said, having a backup plan in place is smart. But you absolutely have the talent to go pro!
