These gouache postcards are part of a large series where I will be aiming to paint 100 landscapes. These were painted in 2023.
Postcard 42 Watermelon - Watermelon has always been a favourite for Summer, this little scene was from a high tea that we served a few years ago.
Postcard 44 Domestic Goose - At our local waterway park there have been a number of orphaned domestic geese which have come to call the area home.
Postcard 48 Sunrise Shoots - The mangroves have really been flushed out by the heavy rains last Summer, the new roots and spouts are startung to creep out of the mud.
Postcard 49 Berimiba Stream - Another common scene from our local hiking track we walk with the dogs. This area is a repourposed sand mine turned wetlands reserve. The water helps sustain so many lifeforms.

Good to see those crisp, cool, sugary geometric shapes in between all the subtle renditions of the great outdoors!
The goose is another fine collection of easy-on-the-eye natural geometry.
The mangroves have an interesting distribution pattern, clinging to the coastal brims of almost all Southern continents, and feeling very alien to the denizens of the Northern ones. Amazing amphibious plant life!
Thank you for supplying those contextual annotations for your paintings!
Brings out a wholly new dimension in them.

Thank you! I am glad you like the annotations, I really love providing them! This set is very much inspired by places we went and saw once the pandemic finally started to slow down and we could see friends. There is more food and birds on the way, definetly a fun change!
This is not to say your traditional paintings are comparatively uninteresting, of course.
If anything, complacently expecting artist to stay in the groove of pinuppable character studies is a vice.
But I will say that I entirely lack the technical knowledge to fully appreciate paintings, and can only marvel at the most showy aspects of them, without acknowledging cunning color blending and precise brushwork.
The most evident quality that your paintings share is they brilliantly convey the mood and the lighting of the depicted places, and they are wondrously diverse evidence of you having been to those places, and like a journeyman's photo reel, this counts for something.
I hope the real life sales of your paintings will always leave your customers grateful and inspired to see more of the beautiful world on their own.
