That's because just about everywhere else has pretty much shut down this kind of 'police blotter' reporting. In Florida, the press get all kinds of case details that simply aren't released anywhere else in the English speaking world.
(IOW: Weird stuff happens everywhere, it's just that you hear about the stuff in Florida.)

Meanwhile, in reality, even at the peak of the pandemic crime spike the US crime rate was still only about ¾ of what it was a generation ago. If it drops back to pre-pandemic level, (as seems to be happening), it will be about half of what it was in the '80s/early-'90s.
Note also that what most places stopped were the nitty-gritty details. There would still be a publicly available report saying someone was arrested for assaulting an officer, (to use the pic as an example), just not that she specifically bit him in the rear.

1. I did not bring up the "pandemic."
2. Not prosecuting crimes is a way to stop crime rate spikes.

Ah, NYT. Forever eating and keeping the same cake. (It's coprophagia.)

1: If you want to talk about crime rates, it's relevant to mention and identify notable variations in said rates and their trends. The pandemic saw a spike in a number of crimes, especially ones of a more domestic nature, (e.g. spousal abuse).
(You should also stop using scare quotes until you actually know how to use them. Unless, of course, you actually want to look like a someone suffering from conspiratorial ideation.)
2: That's not how crime rate statistics work, (they track victimizations, events or impact; not arrests, prosecutions or convictions).
3: Is this intentional dishonesty or simply not understanding what you read? Note how one story is about a problem in a single city and the other about the national trend, (while noting that there are some areas with the problem).

Florida Man, cursed to walk the peninsula alone, cried out to the heavens in a rage fueled by Luke warm PBR and a 40 ounce steel reserve....
The gods, hearing his cry, summoned forth a companion... Florida woman...
"Go forth, Florida Man, Florida Woman, and change the world"
- 2nd Corinthians Chapter 12 Vs 6 I think....

Okay. Why isn't this more of a thing? XD I'd love to see more people draw their characters as "Florida Man/Woman" and give an appropriate headline. Could be a meme, or just a very funny trend.
Though it would only really work with characters who are chaotic enough to fit that Florida energy. =P
