Guard Weapons
The 4 different weapons of the Anubian Guards of midnight mountain, they are not to fancy mainly because of there mass production, but all still bear the symbol of Midnight being the crescent moon.
for the picture above blue / sapphire was used as the example but the blue is subject to change depending on the rank of the anubian guard (SEE - Anubian Guard - for rank details)
Khopesh Of The Crescent Moon
The most common weapon used by the guards, a blade issued to each new emerald grunt by default so they at least have some kind of basic weapon to train with.
It is very rare you will ever see a grunt with anything other than the sword unless the soul was already trained with a different weapon before conversion or if the converted soul had a proficiency in a aura that would make it better suited to a different weapon
I.E. - a soul that has some level of observation will more benefit from bow training given they will have better vision and spatial awareness from there observation training.
but roughly 90% of emerald grunts will be using the basic sword as they go though there training now that they are used to there new obsidian bodies, with the promoted Sapphires then trying the training of each weapon to see witch they resonate with the best.
The Sword itself is modelled after the Egyptian khopesh, only the curved of the blade has been made smoother to resemble one of Midnight's symbols, that of the crescent moon.
the handle is made of iron and is in the shape of a ankh with the shaft of the ankh wrapped in leather for better grip and the edge of the ankh glazed with the gemstone of the guards rank and the base of the ankh bearing a pyramid shaped gem of there rank.
Imbedded into the ankh's hilt is a crescent shaped blade made of solid gold and imbedded onto each side of the blade centre is a crescent shaped gem of the guard's rank.
just below the crescent is small soul gem in the shape of a ring that acts as a resonator so if a higher rank uses a aura or even magic on the blade like fire, the ring will resonate with the aura so the blade itself will ignite easier or whatever my be cast on it.
and lastly on the shaft of the blade will be the owners serialized name just to fill out the shaft to not make it look as plain so if it were "Insane Spyro" on the side of the blade would be "IS-30" or as we can see on the example the 1st ever converted one "OO" himself Tutorial or as he is know "Tu-Tu".
this is only weapon that this is on as the other 3 are slightly more intricately designed.
while it is the most basic weapon and if you see a emerald grunt with one they are not to much to worry about as at that rank they are now doing there combat training, however if you see a sapphire it should not be taken lightly as they will now know exactly how to use it, and the higher ranks like the amethyst pack leaders and the citrine that serve directly under the greater demons while using the basic weapon should still be considered a high threat as they will not only be one-handed masters but they will also know how to enhance this basic sword with aura and magic and in the higher ranks even this basic sword can be just as devastating as other weapons.
Crescent Moon Crusher
The 2 handed great sword of guards.
These massive weapons stand at 4.5ft tall so almost as big as the 6ft guards, these weapons are a mix of a club and sword with the hilt and shaft being more rounded and the moon being a thick but sharp blade.
Starting at the bottom and working up like the khopesh there is a gemstone of the rank at the base attached to the handle that is also leather wrapped for grip, this handle is then attached to a gold and dark sapphire designed main body that leads up to the thickest part of the club, the main iron body where the blade is fitted to with the iron body having a Midnight themed band around it for aesthetics and a few soul gems around the top not only for enhancement but also internally to help bind the huge moon to the club.
Speaking of moving off the club part, imbedded into it is a huge golden crescent moon that is so big and heavy that the blade itself has to be split into 2 parts with a gem of the guard's rank in the centre of the crescent moon connecting the 2 parts of the blade.
each part of the blade weighing around 100 pounds each, so 200 pounds when put together than is roughly the weight of a small fridge or washing machine.
so only guards that have undergone quite a bit of strength training can wield this massive blades, not that you would know as given that guards come out of the same mould and made out of obsidian there physical form wont change only the strength of there soul, hence the gem is used to differ rank and power, as a freshly converted ruby or basic emerald grunt will naturally be weaker than a pack leader so even if they look the exact same as they came from the same mould and have the exact same weapon the pack leader than will have undergone more training and will now have a stronger soul so despite looking the exact same one is going to hit harder than the other.
but guards that wanted to try this weapon and have gone though strength training and usually a basic level of armament training and have passed have the potential to become the some of the scariest guards to face as those that become masters of these great swords can swing them around as if they are a normal basic sword and when you can swing 200lbs around like its nothing this turns this slower but harder hitting great sword into armour breaking unblockable buster sword.
So seeing a sapphire holding one of these its ok, if you get hit it will hurt but its not the end of the world as more than likely there swing is going to be slow and easy to doge.
But if its a pack leader or citrine is wilding one every swing needs to be avoided as now with there faster and stronger swings each hit could potentially be a 1-kit kill as it is basically like being hit by a meteor, being that its a extremely heavy planet shaped rock coming at you at you with great speed and impact.
Pierce The Moon
the pole arm of the guards and the most commonly used by Topaz captains and Amethyst pack leaders, given there speed, precision and range, basically to most this is just a stright upgrade to the one handed sword.
the spear is a long iron spear, it has a gem of the guard's rank imbedded into its tip with the gem being sharpened so it can be also used for offence making both ends a danger, then the pole itself is pure iron with a few small rubies and amethysts embed into it as the 2 gems of there ruler Midnight, then near the top of the spear is grip made from soul gem as while in combat the whole shaft is used when walking and preparing for combat the grip is held so captains and above will imbue aura and magic into the pole arm before combat starts allowing them to utilize the whole shaft from the start rather than having to waste time holding the grip in combat.
Then just above the grip is a cluster of small soul gems to once again make the enchantment apply to the weapon easier.
Above that is hilt that connects to the blade witch like the bottom has the gem of there rank imbedded into both sides.
And Lastly above that is the razor sharp crescent moon blade once again made of solid gold.
unlike the crusher these are the exact opposite, while the crusher is slow but hit harder, these hit lest but once trained in speed and a bit of basic observation, the amount of damage and speed at witch this damage can be output means they can be just as deadly as the crusher especially because as stated before given that extra range over the normal sword this is the preferred weapons of captains and pack leader those that have not only done and mastered the sapphire training of the standard ranks but are now either doing or have done advance combat training and usually a intermediate level of aura training and given that a patrol of even grunts will be lead by a captain or pack leader even if the grunts are not a issues the spear wielding leader will be and if your paying attention to grunts trying to get rid of the fodder, they will use that extra level of speed training to strike swiftly and precisely and if you are focusing on keeping the spear uses at bay your not focusing on the grunts that will be also attacking hence why they are captains and above, as they are not only strong in there own right but they know exactly how to use the units under there command to put a attacker in a position where the speed and range of this weapon makes it hard to win as you can only focuse on one thing at a time if your on your own hence the its the preferred weapon of captains and pack leaders.
Midnight's Tail
the final weapon of the guards and the easiest one to describe as the tile suggests its literally just a giant crescent moon made of gold and given the forge lines make it kind of look like a banana so I guess Midnight is Banana tail now XD.
With the grip of the bow being a darker gold and having a hand guard imbeded with the gem of the guards rank around the grip,
the dark gold grip and dark gold tips that hold the sting both have purple gold in between the dark gold as a nice accent.
The sting is a nice crystalline string enchanted with soul magic to help with arrow enchantment.
The Arrows are a pretty standard arrow, a iron shaft, a crescent moon fin made of gold to help fight and the arrow head,
the only thing of note is that the arrow head itself is made of the gem of the guard's rank, utilizing the good old fantasy magical quiver allowing for a infinite amount of arrows to be drawn and fired.
I mean there is a reason using a bit of void magic thanks to "Darkness" that being there is a single arrow of each rank inside a container somewhere in the mountain and when one is drawn the quiver reacts and the container send a copy though the void and back into the quiver.
Bow users are also the only guard that duel wield as while they do have there long rage option they do keep and are still trained in there one handed sword so if something dose get to close they can switch to there kopesh in order to still be able to fight.
But guards that are picking the bow path are trained naturally in agility and observation as you need to move from vantage point to vantage point quickly and the observation for better aiming and awareness of the land around them but also stealth, making the bow users arguably the most deadly as you might not see them, they will still be assigned to captains and pack leaders but will be away from the main patrol sticking to more secluded mountain paths, back allies or the rafters if in big temple like areas, usually in a set of 3 or 4 on the left and right flank of the main patrol, so patrols are totally covered, so attacking one while it might only look like 5 lower ranks and a captain its a guarantee that there are 2 sets of bow guards somewhere on your left and right flank and a snipe from a arrow is very likely.
maybe even devastating if its a higher rank archer as and the arrow is infused with armament or the bow string its tensed to more that it normally should be (witch on a normal bow would break the string or snap the wood) the arrow will fire with more speed and power easily enough to punch a hole though wood and stone so shields don't work and even dent some forms of metal.
normally this is only possible if a bow has enough reinforcement to give it ballistic capabilities witch usually means if has to to be much bigger like a great bow, but thanks to the crystalline soul string and the cursed gold of the bow it has a very high stress rate and even without any kind of enchantment once trained this regular sized bow can still output a arrow with the speed and ballistic proports that could normally only be achieved by a great bow or ballista.
Custom
this is extremely rare and 99% of the time is never seen out side of the highest rank of diamond or at the most the odd citrine that is with a greater, on a very rare occasion there might be a case where one of the 4 types is not going to fit with a guard's combat style for example there might be a rare case where the gems used on there finger pads had good elemental resonance allowing them to cast magic and so rather than the 4 standard weapons this rare guard would be given a catalyst that makes it easy for them to cast something like soul fire like how Midnight can cast it from her hand or like the very 1st ever conversion Tutorial playing into his serialized name of "Tu-Tu" (as being No.0 he did not fit into the codex), learning ballet and his graceful dance like combat lends well to a weapon made exclusively for him being a scythe as doing something like jumping and landing into a full 360 twirl add a scythe to that, that twirl has now just become a sawblade that swept the entire arena.
But again this is extremely rare and outside of a very small handful of Diamond's that serve directly under Midnight herself and the odd 1 or 2 citrine that serve directly under the greater demons a custom weapon is none existent.
