Another fantastically realised Commission idea by the highly talented and ever-appreciated artist venlightchaser
In the course of the sketch phase for the "Horse head Nebula" picture, there was also the idea of showing the character in a spacesuit. I liked the sketches so much that I wanted to commission a second picture, which Ven thankfully accepted. I was aware of the challenge, as Ven had to develop a concept of what a space helmet for an Anthro-Horse would look like... but I'm incredibly impressed and pleased with the final result. In terms of space ambience and the design of the spaceship - the Pegasus - Ven has excelled himself once again in my eyes. And I love the titular reflections of the horse head nebula on the character's helmet.

Excerpt from the Pegasus log:
"5:38 p.m. SST: The last spools of the damaged Bussard collector BU7 were successfully replaced after restructuring in the nanite chamber. As predicted by SPI, the damage was system critical, but not as deep as initially suspected... The Repair drones have begun installing the final covers.
After an initial check, the SPI already reported that the system is 100% functional again.
I will return to the ship and supervise final test runs together with the board computer... after that the Pegasus can continue its flight."
"Interim report saved" reported the SPI, the Pegasus' artificial intelligence, in its usual gentle tone, before the Commander made his way back to the hatch, secured to the guide struts.
Before he entered the ship, an inner voice urged him to turn his gaze once more...
Wherever he looked... Infinity!
Reverently he floated in the centre of this bottomless cathedral of darkness and emptiness, while above him the glimmer of the emission nebula with its horse-head shaped silhouette stretched like a ceiling fresco.... like a colossal statue from the ancient myths of early seafarers, who were supposed to show the way to the safe harbour from the vastness of the sea.
Even if he was not religious, he could not help thinking that a greater power was looking down on him.
'I wish you could see this... but maybe you can....' he said wordlessly in his mind, thinking back to his parents.... his relatives and friends... all of whom he was as much separated from in time as he was in space.
As he reached out and ran his hand over the fine contours of the nebula in his mind like the strands of a mane, the SPI's voice broke the silence:
"Are you all right Commander?" ... still permanently analysing his vital signs.
"Everything's fine Pegasus ..." he reported back with a satisfied smile and lowered his hand back to the guide strut.
"... I'll return"
