Alex enjoyed his dinner at the Chinese Restaurant. After finishing his chow mein, he decided to finish his meal with the Chinese fortune cookie. He opened the cookie and read his fortune.
"You are going on a journey of serenity."
Alex ate the cookie. The environment changed around him. What once was a Chinese restaurant, was now a sunny, peaceful land by a brook. Alex whistled to himself at how serene the place was. He heard a wind chime and looked behind him. There was one strung on a tree branch. The sound was so relaxing. "What is this nice place?" Alex asked himself. His ears changed and became panda bear ears. His face became more bear-like until he had a panda bear head. His eyelashes lengthened. Next his Adam's apple shrank. Alex suddenly felt himself getting shorter. A panda tail grew. His hands and feet became paws. He changed to a female. All her clothes fell off and Alex saw she had a panda bear's body but instead of black and white fur she had purple and white fur. Alex walked over to the brook (she could still walk on two legs) and looked at her reflection. She was now a beautiful panda bear girl. Alex decided to do some exploring. Nearby, she found another female panda who was doing tai chi.
The panda saw Alex and stopped. "Hey there, what's your name?"
"Uh, it's Alex." Alex said.
"My name is Penny Ling." she said. "I'm doing tai chi. Would you like to join me?"
"Isn't Tai Chi a martial art meant for combat?" Alex asked.
"Yes." Penny nodded. "But it can also be used for relaxation. I'll show you a few moves." The first tai chi move was called "The Wild Horse's Mane". Penny patiently watched as Alex did the pose. The second pose was called "White Crane Spreads Its Wings". Alex tried this pose and succeeded. "Very good, now can you do this one?" Penny asked as she did the "Brush Knee and Twist Step". Alex carefully followed her lead. The next tai chi pose was called "Play the Lute" which Alex also succeeded in. "This one reminds me of my friend, Minka Mark." Penny said as she did a pose called "Repulse Monkey". As Alex copied Penny, she asked, "How am I doing so well on all my first tries? I've never done this before."
"Well, I'm a gymnist and a panda bear so I can do these with grace. Is your body as fit as mine?" Penny asked.
"I think so." Alex answered.
"Then that's your answer." She smiled. "Let's rest and meditate by the riverbank."
Alex sat in lotus flower position as Penny did. As Alex did the meditative pose, she asked her, "Am I supposed to empty my head of my thoughts?"
Penny replied, "No, that's a misconception to the art of meditation. You are supposed to quiet your thoughts by calming yourself. You can actually find many solutions to your problems with a centered mind rather than a stressed out one."
Alex tried it and felt as her mind became clearer. She thought about many of her problems at home and saw better solutions to her problems. "Hey, you're right!" Alex said. "This actually works." After meditation time, Penny said, "Let's do some yoga moves next." The first move she did was called "Easy Pose".
"Most beginner yoga classes start with this one." Penny explained. Alex followed her lead. The next was called a "Cat Pose." Just like her tai chi lessons, she was also successful. The next poses were called the "Cow" pose, "Mountain Pose", "Downward Facing Dog", "Cobra Pose", "Crescent Lunge Pose", "Triangle Pose", "Plank Pose", "Child's Pose", "Corpse Pose", "Warrior 1 Pose", "Tree Pose", "Bridge Pose", and "Fish Pose".
"Woah, I actually am feeling really good about myself." Alex smiled.
"That means you are doing well. Now it is time for tea!" Penny said. She led him over to a Chinese gazebo. In the center of the gazebo was a small square table with a porcelain tea pot and on either side were two teacups.
"What kind of tea are we having?" Alex asked.
"Lemon and ginger tea." Penny said. "Green and herbal teas are the best kind of teas to drink after yoga and tai chi. They'll help rejuvenate your body." Alex drank the tea and found it delicious. "This is one of the best teas I've ever drank. Thanks for helping me on my journey to inner tranquility!"
"You're very welcome!" Penny smiled. Alex couldn't wait to come back here. He also decided to try some meditation at home to help relax her mind. She would never forget this peaceful journey with Penny Ling.
