What's genuinely uncanny for me is that, by staggering coincidence, Rauru shares both design elements and biographical details with one of my own characters, himself based heavily on one of my oldest imaginary friends -- they're both tall, lanky fuzzballs with a chimeric caprine-feline appearance, gentle dispositions that hide a truly terrifying rage when sufficiently provoked, light-based powers and royal statuses who were forced by circumstance to lay down their lives to seal away a more powerful opponent.
Which is to say, of course, that I adored the big guy instantly.

You know, I was kinda expecting this comment to go another way and I've been surprised by your positive reaction.
I often see the opposite and it's refreshing to see that you got to see a concept similar to the one you developed yourself not only represented in a big franchise like TLOZ, but also loved by so many people like you can see in the comments of this drawing, and loved it instead of rejected it!
Similar stuff has happened to me before and it's always made me happy to feel like I was onto 'something'. It's easy to feel like one's own creations will never be good enough, or will never be taken seriously, so seeing similar stuff in published and loved media is very encouraging and it's great to see that someone else shares the sentiment!

I won't lie and say that a part of me doesn't wish I'd gotten my guy out into the world first, but like you said, it's gratifying to see such a positive public reaction to a character so similar to one near and dear to my heart -- and since it's vanishingly unlikely my own work will ever reach any level of success, I'd rather someone else with some actual talent beat me to the punch rather than the idea never seeing the light of day at all.
I know how you feel! But I'm sure that the public won't care who published it first - after all, they're getting to experience a trope they enjoy twice, what's not to love? :)
I absolutely love Rauru, so the idea that someone has created a similar character well beforehand definitely has me intrigued! Something about the character type really appeals to me, so getting even more of it would be wonderful! Please show me some content you've made for this character, I'd love to read or look at anything you have. :)
i agree with this post i pledge myself to king rauru to take care of his needs
