Alex and Zoe enjoyed spending time with the pets and Blythe Baxter at the park flying a kite. The next day; however, was very hot. Alex and Zoe were panting. Blythe was wiping her face with a handkerchief. Mrs. Twombly approached Blythe and said, "You've been working very hard Blythe. For a reward, you can have the day off."
"Thanks, Mrs. Twombly!" the girl smiled.
"And what would you like to do on your day off?" the pet store owner asked.
"I would like to take the pets with me to the beach!" Blythe smiled.
"Well, then, you best get ready for your day off!" Mrs. Twombly smiled. Blythe got herself in her bathing suit and took all the pets and Alex with her. It was a sunny day and the beach only had a few visitors so it wasn't crowded.
"Great, this is the perfect day for to be at the beach!" Blythe grinned.
Alex followed Zoe, "What do you think we should first, Zoe?"
Zoe looked at the other pets building sand castles. "Let's make a sand castle bigger than the others!"
Alex smiled and nodded. "Yes, let's do that!" Alex and Zoe took a painstaking 15 minutes to make their sandcastle more unique than the others. Alex and Zoe were the last ones to finish.
"Wow, you guys!" Blythe gasped. "Those are amazing sandcastles! I want to take pictures of them and add them to my scrapbook!"
"Yes, please!" Alex smiled. Blythe took a picture of Alex's and Zoe's first. The next ones in the following order were Russell's, Penny's, Vinnies, Minka's, Sunil's, and finally Peppers. Blythe compared the pictures and saw Alex's and Zoe's were the biggest.
An ocean wave splashed down on the sandcastles, flattening them. "Oh, no!" Russell gasped.
"Don't worry, that is why I took pictures so we would always know what they looked like." Blythe responded.
"Let's go on a treasure hunt and search the beach for anything shiny." Minka suggested.
"Great idea!" Alex said. "Zoe and I will find the shiniest valuables!" The pets looked all over the place carrying plastic buckets with them. The first thing Zoe and Alex found was a shiny blue pebble. Next, they found a grape bottle cap. They looked some more and found a fork.
"Hmm, how did this utensil get here?" Zoe asked.
"There are a lot of strange things that can appear at the beach." Alex said. She spotted another shiny object and saw it was a spoon.
"Now we have a matching set!" Zoe said. They next decided to look for seashells. Alex, Zoe, and Penny found the most.
"Why don't we go swimming next?" Blythe suggested.
"Hooray!" all the pets cheered.
Zoe jumped into the water and Alex paused. "What's the matter?" Zoe asked.
"I'm a little scared of swimming." Alex said. She was really concerned about swimming as a dog but decided not to tell Zoe she was once a human boy.
"There's nothing to worry about. Just stay close to me and you'll be fine." Zoe insured. Alex enjoyed swimming the doggie paddle and following Zoe. The pets made sure they stayed close to land so they wouldn't accidentally get swept out to sea.
Blythe ordered hotdogs for herself and the pets. "Lunch time, everyone!" Blythe called out to them. The pets came back to the beach and dried themselves off with towels. They ate the hotdogs, complete with a bun, ketchup, and mustard. It was one of the best hotdogs Alex ever tasted. Blythe looked at the clock, time to go home everyone!" The pets groaned.
"We can come back another day." Blythe smiled. The pets smiled and nodded in agreement. Blythe and the pets returned to the Littlest Pet Shop and followed Blythe up to her room. She finished the beach photos and put them in her scrapbook. She showed the pets.
"Amazing!" Alex yipped.
"Thanks, Alex!" Blythe said. "I'm glad you joined us on our trip to the beach."
