As always for better quality, it's best to download this track.
From The King of Fighters 96, the song used in the ending credits, at least it was an instrumental version of that tune, for the actual CD soundtrack, the song was turned into a ballad sung by Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami, about how they are guided in life by the sun and moon respectively.
While coming up with the new lyrics it was a bit of a challenge for me to try and make it all sound like it's coming from the same person (as it's only one person singing it, but I think I managed OK, with the lyrics and with the singing for the most part).
Lyrics:
The sun brings oh so much warmth into my heart.
It keeps me going that I know that we're apart.
The sun keeps bringing us it's warmth and it's light.
Asking for just nothing, in return without a fight.
The moonlight brings us needed illumination.
It's shared when the creeping darkness covers nations.
The moonlight gives us light like a magic spell
Without it I'm lonely, just like the moon itself.
I can tell.
Chorus 1:
The moon shines on me.
Lighting my tears to flame.
Burning with passion.
I am not the same.
Sadness has mostly burnt away.
As it becomes the shadows of a new day.
The sunlight returns to me, like an old friend.
Letting me know that nightfall is at an end.
But though the day brings us much needed hope.
Thoughts of sadness brings fright.
May the sun makes them vanish.
With it's light.
Chorus 2:
The sun erases all that's left of my tears.
Reassuring my mind of all my fears.
Igniting the brave heart that's in me.
Erasing my own darkness for eternity.
Chorus 1:
The moon shines on me.
Lighting my tears to flame.
Burning with passion.
I am not the same.
Sadness has mostly burnt away.
As it becomes the shadows of a new day.
Chorus 2:
The sun erases all that's left of my tears.
Reassuring my mind of all my fears.
Igniting the brave heart that's in me.
Erasing my own darkness for eternity.

Wow, I never knew you did English language covers of Japanese songs. You can go wonders with that.
This is not the most acurate song translation mind you, as I mentioned before the song was originally a duet, but I had to do a bit of work to get a new set of lyrics that honours the original, but sounding like it came from one individual instead.
But thank you though for the kind words, they are VERY much apprciated.
