It means that they see all the mistakes and flaws and error in technique and will proceed to pick you apart until your ego and pride are annihilated. MUHAHAHAHAHAAHA!
=P
It really means you are doing good and they recognize your talents and as along as you don't let your brain go down the path of the above sentence, give yourself a little pat on the back because you earned it

Others can more easily see the accomplishments we fail to recognize in ourselves. It's because you draw the cutest things and they liked it too!
Oh god, this is so relatable you have no idea x_x Many artists that follow me are WAY BETTER than I'll ever have hope to be (mostly because they're full-time artists who put in way more practice than I can with my non-art job)
I've heard many stories of people in many fields finally meeting their big hero, trying hard to stay calm and professional, only for their hero to be the one to show childish excitment and say "I'm a big fan!".
No matter your field; if your hero says they are a fan of you, you've done well.

the way we see ourselves is always different from what others see.
we see at times, often, mostly the bad parts. while others, the ones that care can see stuff in us that others don't and not only the bad stuff.
overthinking is often the REAL problem.

*slides you a cup of tea and a cookie, then gently bops the top of your head* "Out! Don't slip into anxiety alley, it'll do your motivation in, harder then batman's parents"
ValSalia has said that he's read some of my yinglet story, which just fills me with a giggly giddy feeling.
...but he hasn't said anything about whether he liked it... >.>

Just could be that you have talent, potential, or both.
There was a quote about comparison that resonated with me that I heard on YouTube - to paraphrase,
"There will always be people who excel at things you dont and you will excel at things others don't. As humans we're all meant to be good at different things, that's how we can help each other out as a community."
And its so true with art and entertainment as well, everyone has their specialties and enjoy different works of art. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder n all
I bet Van Gogh couldnt draw adorable chibi art ;D that we know of
