Suki-Ren is a character I've been cooking up for a while, and I've finally managed to get him nailed down on paper.
A kitsune who was worshipped centuries ago, Suki-Ren enjoyed a life of absolute luxury and decadence. Endless banquets, rivers of wine, orgies of unceasing ecstasy... he had it all! However, his world of pleasures was dashed when an army of exorcists laid waste to his followers, before murdering his physical body and trapping his soul in a statue, preventing him from ever returning. But it was not to be.
(And this is were his official story deviates from his Battle Beasts profile)
Untold centuries later, you happened across the broken down shrine and decided to explore. You had heard about the place before but you'd never actually seen it for yourself. You had expected something much smaller, but even in its dilapidated state, you could see the place had once been not only huge, but also quite grand. You'd decided to head inside to take a look around, careful to watch your step on the moulding floor boards. You could easily imagine the place must have looked quite elegant once, from the faded patterns on the wall and the fallen and rusted chandeliers... hell, the place could have been a manor house for some rich recluse. Picking your way through the building, you found yourself entering the remains of a chamber, the roof partially caved in. Amidst the utterly desiccated debris strewn across the stained floor, you saw a fair-sized statue, around your height. The detail work had faded with time, but you could see that there were ropes tied around it, binding it, and moulding old scraps of parchment hanging from them.
Paying the strange sight no mind, you continued to look around the room, the moonlight through the broken ceiling casting everything in silver. You explored, examining the baubles that had been left amongst the mess. And then something creaked, stopping you cold. You only had a moment to think about what it could be before the floorboard under your foot snapped, sending you stumbling. You reached out to catch yourself on a pillar, only for it to - to your horror - give way under your weight. You fell with the pillar and heard a heavy crash, followed by the clunking of broken rock rolling. Grimacing to yourself, and realising the building is much less stable than you thought, you decide its time to leave.
You pick yourself up, glancing at the statue that has been utterly smashed to pieces by the falling pillar. Hoping you hadn't just destroyed something too culturally significant, you began to carefully move away, but then the flash of light made you freeze. An orb of light, rising into the air from the remains of the broken statue, it grew in front of your eyes - the size of a pebble, no a baseball, no a football... it grew and grew until it suddenly burst outward in a shower of twinkling stars. The flecks of light slowed, then began to fall, gently, fading to nothing before they hit the floor. However, your eyes were locked on the figure floating in the air, a figure curled up, knees pulled to their chest, head down. What the hell was this?
With a audible groan, the anthro began to unfurl, six huge fluffy tails fanning out behind it. Shapely legs stretched down, slender arms reached up, it's back arched, its head rolling back as it... yawned? You remained frozen, watching, taking in the sight. And then the figure sighed, its arms dropping and back straightening as it finished stretching, as if waking from a long sleep. Magnificent eyes opened, staring directly at you. The fox boy - you could only assume he was male from his lithe figure - floated in the air, blinking once as he took you in too. The staring match lasted for a very long minute before he smiled.
"Well, hello there, pet," he greeted with a mischievous lilt.
You stared slack jawed as he flicked a finger, a pink bubble materialising out of nothing in front of him. The fox boy floated up higher, kicking his legs forward as he lowered himself onto it, the strange pink mass moulding around his rear and foot, embracing him almost like a waterbed. It shuddered oddly as it took his weight, then settled, holding him aloft in the air.
"Wha..." you could barely form a thought, let alone a word.
"Tell me, pet, are you my servant?"
Thus began the most bizarre, magical chapter of your life...
Originally, I had wanted to produce that story as a comic strip with a few details changed - Tristan arriving to bust some partying kids trespassing at the shrine, only to end up releasing Suki - but I figured if I did, it'd be a long time before Suki's official story was told. I'm really happy to have another cute boy added to my stable, and like I said, he's been in the works for a long time, so this is long overdue!
