Probably i'm just embarrassing myself with my obvious lack of knowledge on how a hippo's face looks in front but i guess their nose is only characteristic from a side view. And they definitely don't smile, ever.
This was a gift to the awesome person who made it available for me to change my rotting hard disk to a new 1TB one for free. With the last breath of my old disk i painted this for the guy who's favorite animal is... guess what. (search for clues on the picture and it's title)

This is such a lovely piece, the water looks so inviting and the soft lighting is perfect. I think it looks very hippoish, as I imagine its not that easy to draw them from the front.
OMG that's sooo awesome! :D Happy hippo FTW ! I love his expression and the colours are great! Mighty big fave!
that is adorable. i love it's face. i take it it's eyes are closed? for whatever reason it just looks as though it has vacant grey eyes.
LOL! I totally missed your picture title and was going to leave exactly that as my comment. :-P
Those blank eyes are a little creepy, but otherwise, this is pretty stinkin' cute!
Everything about this picture is so soothing and full of detail!
