City Tunes #3: Piano Groove
A while ago, I wanted to try making some music for someone's visual novel, but they weren't sure when they were gonna get around to music, so for the time being I wanted to upload some of these tunes to FA cause I think they don't entirely suck! They're sort of just mockups of what could be expanded on later, or just sort of like, proof of concept stuff? But I think they're still okay.
Another pretty chill one, not sure what exactly it might be for but it's nice! And yeah, the title is a real throwaway, ha. If I used it for something I'd probably give it a better one.

Hey there, Jeshke!
Are those tracks you uploaded set in stone or would you like to have some music critique on it / wanting to work on it? You mentioned it's more like a 'mockup' and all.
Like 'what's good', 'what could be improved' and 'what could may be changed or added'?
Not wanting to give annoy by giving an opinion without asking and all, as not everyone would like to get such a thing.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna do more with them, but if you wanna give feedback then go ahead!
Like, for instance, I probably didn't really mix it too heavily to any particular noise ceiling level or whatever it was called. And probably didn't spend forever making sure that every single note was as on-beat as it could be. (I don't quantize, I'll manually move stuff instead, just to kind of preserve the natural playing.) But yeah I mean, if you've got thoughts, then go ahead yeah.

Ah, alright :3
I noticed the 'snaps' are having a bit high highs, which could be slightly muffled, maybe.
The Piano itself however is sounding very natural and playful. The strings slowly added in the middle are very nice.
As a bit of a 'kick' on the later part, it may could probe beneficial if the 'snaps' and the percussions would shortly stop for only one or two beats to give a small variation, as those two else are going through the whole time with not much variation. It would give the listener some 'Hm?!' moment, just to grab some attention. It also move the attention back to the strings and piano which slowly are drowning behind the rhythm.
Overall a very nice piece though! Just a bit 'monotonous' in terms of the background percussion. And as a piano-player myself, I can just say it sounds playful and does not have to be 'on point' - it still is in a good rhythm and nice to listen to.

i love the piano and strings in this, as well as the bassline. the percussion is really snappy and airy which is another plus
as for a word of advice, i would add a good bit of compression to that clap and center it a bit
looking at the waveform it has a really sharp transient and is delayed in the right channel. did you use any stereo widening effects? i would be very careful adding that to percussion since it can cause constructive/destructive interference and make it too loud or quiet when played on mono audio devices

i should add frequency wise it sounds good. i don't think you need to mess with the highs to make it sound better, just some compression. if you're using fl studio, the fruity limiter doubles as a compressor and works really well for that
