"Well, it's a neat book, but..." Nata said, her voice lined with a distinct sense of deflated awe, as she perused the ancient tome sat in her lap. Her delicate fingers gingerly flipped through pages 10,000 years older than she was, treating them with the due care that such a storied object deserved.
"But?" Adrigos asked, brow raised in curiosity as looked to his Tauren guest.
She gestured a hand over the pages, demonstrating what, to her, looked like nothing more than fancy shapes and symbols. "...I can't read it."
The dragon chuckled. "Well... of course you can't. High Kaldorei is a language that hasn't been spoken in some millennia, much less written. I would be impressed if you could."
"Can you?" Nata asked him sincerely, looking up at him with a look of healthy curiosity.
Despite her sincerity however, he seemed almost caught off-guard by the question. "Ah, well, I um," he stumbled awkwardly on his words, to which Nata couldn't help but smile endearingly. If a dragon could blush, he certainly would have. "I can read a little bit, but... I'm still learning," he continued. "I haven't found a living soul in the isles who can teach me..." he said, nervously fidgeting with his claws as he paused for a brief moment. "...and the ghosts don't like me very much, so..."
It was an answer that raised only more questions for Nata, and ones she definitely wanted to ask, but for now she had one thing at the front of her mind. "So... do you know what's in this book?"
At that question, Adrigos seemed to regain his confidence and composure, and he gave her a knowing smile like he had some surprise in store for her. "I do!" He exclaimed cheerfully. "But... rather than tell you, why don't I show you instead?"
Nata gave him a puzzled look, wondering what he meant by that, but she wasn't kept guessing for long. She watched as the dragon raised a single claw with which he seemed to cast a spell, sending out what looked like strands of magic towards the book. She looked on in surprise as the letters in the pages began to glow, and from those indecipherable shapes did ones begin to rise that were instantly more easy to make out. Her surprise turned to wonder as she saw the shapes give rise to what looked like a stag galloping gracefully through a silky mist, as Adrigos' magic brought the pages of the tome to life before her very eyes.
"Wow...!" She exclaimed in awe as the shape of the stag flickered like a flame, and took on all manner of colors which glowed wonderfully in the dim light of the Repose. The more she looked at the stag however, the more familiar it began to look to her, and she gasped from sudden realization. "Is that... Apa'ro?"
Adrigos looked almost surprised at her question, as if he didn't know quite how to answer it. "I... well, the book refers to him as Malorne," he explained half-confidently. "One of the Ancients whom the Kaldorei of old once revered... ah, that they still do today, I think."
"That's him!" Nata exclaimed proudly, watching the shapes closely as if looking out for more she might recognize. Soon the stag appeared to lift itself aloft and gallop into the sky. "This must be The White Stag and the Moon, the story of how he and Mu'sha fell in love!"
Adrigos' eyes went wide in surprise, amazed that she could recognize so much from what little the spell had revealed. He had forgotten that the Tauren were an ancient and storied people themselves, witnesses to much of the same history as the Highborne who authored the tomes in his collection. He didn't speak up to correct her, as he realized she was right... or at least partly so.
They watched in silence as Malorne, Apa'ro by another name, galloped into the sky, chasing after the moon, but failed again and again. Up he went, and down he went, as though in trial and error. But still he seemed to persist, until at last he succeeded, and the shapes coalesced together, as if embracing one another, before disappearing altogether. The magic glow with which the letters had shone began to dissipate. The story was over.
"Wow..." Nata expressed her amazement, but there was a slight hint of confusion in her voice. "That was amazing, but... where were the hunters?" She asked, and she had yet more questions on her mind. "And... Mu'sha didn't rescue him from anything?"
"Well, maybe the elves of old have a different way of telling the same story," Adrigos surmised as he pointed a claw to a passage on the pages. "The book says that Malorne fell in love with Elune... whom your people must call Mu'sha... at the moment the first moonlight shone on the world," he explained to her, with Nata visibly captivated as she listened to him translate the pages for her, watching as his claw moved along each word, each sentence.
"So he tried to follow her into the sky to win her attention, but he couldn't reach her, as you saw. But he kept trying, getting stronger every time, until he finally made it to her." He reached the end of the page. "Elune was so touched by Malorne's devotion that she gave him her love..." he withdrew his digit from the page, and clapped his claws together for dramatic effect. "...and the two were forever bonded."
Nata looked up at him in a mix of awe and confusion, both amazed by his story, but conflicted by how different it was to the tale she had grown up with. Yet her expression seemed to lighten quickly, and that awe quickly turned to excitement. "I could learn so much from you...!" she said giddily. "Could you show me more?" She asked, pointing to the book.
Adrigos smiled warmly at her. "Of course."

Thanks. I love this picture very much and wanted to do it some justice.
Even though I know this will lead to a sex moment, I can’t help but feel a form of happiness or such at how adorable Nata is and how precious she looks in this moment.
