Lyrics:
If I never get a chance to say sorry.
You don't need to take the blame, yeah it's on me.
If you never come back then you'll never know.
Can't open up that door when it's shut closed.
Can't even figure out what you waitin' for.
Whatchu waitin' for?
(Drop)
If you gave yourself another chance then I'll do the same.
Cuz' we've got these broken pieces that we need to arrange.
(Inverse Vocal Chops)
Details:
"There's so much I wish I could tell you, little one, so so much. We'll be okay in time."
Sometimes I wish I could go back into the past and tell the poor young me that everything will be okay and to stay strong. Though, then I may never have grown and fought to become the self that I am now. Sometimes I consider how nice it would be to know that I was going to make it. Life is hard... very hard, but I will stay strong, and have been strong. Still's disease eats away at me every moment, and has been my whole life. This "dragon" is hard to fight day-to-day, I just wish I could have seen it flying overhead.
Since singing is rather difficult right now this one's got some (very processed) vocals that aren't the most organic, but honestly they get the feeling out and I think they fit this kinda music genre. It's been hard to play instruments and sing and such with recent times for obvious reasons so I've been sticking to just my keytar, but I am trying my best (no strings for me for a while haha). I don't think I've ever spent this much time on a song's EQ and chords, it's been really nice figuring out the little thumpy ins-and-outs of my own little bitter-sad-lovey adaption of future bass. The harmony on the synths and chords and bass just... makes me feel something special. I needed something with a bit more energy and force to vent about the suffering I am working through and to spill through the cracks. Lots of tears went into this, but I think that's okay! Admission is the first step to getting better. I had to admit that this is my life now.
Nerd Stuff:
So I've been practicing lightening up the mud of the low-end of the frequency spectrum. It's been tough balancing the low of kicks in percussion and the electronic basses in the mix. I've been able to somewhat better fine tune sidechain compression I think! Also, I have never really tried vocal chops and making vocals overlap and such before, it's kinda hard but I like the melody that came of it! I've also learned some more things about EQing vocals, and studied an example of vocals that I liked and applied it similarly to these in the song (which I highly recommend)! 'Learned alot about what frequencies I like in my vocals for this kind of music. It's a miracle what can be done to manipulate a relatively clean vocal sample! It's almost like cheating... I think I'll stick to more organic the moment I can sing better/more again. It's just shocking how much some VSTs can change an audio clip. Also, take lanes!? You can just keep re-recording vocal takes while looping a back-track in Ableton 11 and I wish I knew sooner! I think the olden term for this was "comping". Very handy.
Anywho, take care everyone, and be safe!
