Aim for the target, release the claw.
Its flimsiness was the fatal flaw.
Walk back to her, take her hand;
Placed a glow-in-the-dark rubber band.
"I'm sorry for the poor gift," she heard him say,
"If only things were going more my way."
A kiss on his cheek, a sleight of hand;
Around her wrist, the rubber band.
