Letters to Super C: #24
To the mighty Cat of Steel, SuperCat
Dear Sir:
Others might have asked you this question, but I am going to ask it as well. Why was Caticon's favorite sport basketball? I admit to being one that never cared much for the game myself. While the others paid attention to the game itself, I was watching the mascots. That's just the kind of person I am. And when the supernatural forces introduced us to the real-life animal counterparts to all those mascots by granting that one child's wish, it really livened up our world.
I live in the Lone Star State, so the mascots I cheer for are the Coyote (San Antonio Spurs) and Champ the Maverick (Dallas Mavericks), although Rumble the Bison (Oklahoma City Thunder) also left a good impression on me. However, Champ is my choice when it comes to picking just one to root for, even though the truth is, I like all of them. They all send you their greetings, by the way.
Sincerely,
Carlton J. Karlsbad, age 39 (human being)

Super C's reply:
Dear Carlton:
Lots of people ask me that question. I believe the fact our national sport was basketball because we found that it was the easiest one to teach team spirit, cooperation, and working together to overcome tough challenges. I played it a lot in my youth, and I've also had some experience acting as a referee (although not as much as Crush, obviously). It was the sport that provided us with the biggest amount of memories, helping us to keep positive as we remember our home planet we lost to our worst enemy (CNG), although the stuff itself really was its own worst enemy. We even had our own league, the CBA (Caticonian Basketball Association). This league apparently carried over to the planet Orpheus when the population went there, and only dissolved when we came here to Earth. Nonetheless, if you look closely, you will see a good chunk of Caticonian-American players in the furry version of the NBA. (All the sports leagues do that; they have one league for the humans and one for the animals.)
I accept and return the greetings of the real-life mascots; I interact with them quite a lot, and I agree with you that Champ is a heck of a player himself. The team closest to Wildcat City is the OKC Thunder, so the mascot I interact with the most is Rumble, and he left the best impression on me. While they do have their rivalries and competitions, they also stick together like a band of brothers with an unbreakable bond. They showed this when they helped the G-52s apprehend a crazy criminal going after someone else's lottery tickets (as well as a whole gang of other criminals trying to kill the first one). They dribbled those crooks like basketballs (literally). That was amazing.
I hope that helps, and thanks for writing to me. If I missed something, let me know, and I'll fix the error.
Yours truly,
Simon Corrineson, a.k.a. SuperCat
