Air Fryer Pizza Snacks
Wuff made these at the shop today in the new ChefMaker Combi-Cook Air Fryer.
So quick, easy, cheap, tasty, and filling! The new ChefMaker air fryer worked a champ, but any air fryer will work for these, or even a toaster oven will do. It'll just take longer and need a bit more attention.
These beat those store-bought Hot Pockets and Pizza Rolls all to heck! So much more filling, more flavor, and FAR FAR less expensive. And with the air fryer, you can get them in and out of the heat in under 10 minutes. If you make up a few of these and wrap them in plastic wrap and foil, they'll keep in the fridge for a week for fast and easy snacks in just minutes. Or you can freeze them up and keep them for weeks until it's snack/eatin' time!
And unlike those pre-made store snacks, you can tailor the fillings in these to anything you'd like on your pizza snack. The rolled-burrito shape means you can carry them about with you on the go, and they don't leak all over the place out the edges. Just grab them with a napkin in case you've stuffed the goodies inside a bit too full.
Recipe and creation couldn't be easier!
Wuff's version pictured here contained Mozzarella Cheese, Grated parm/asiago mix, salami, pepperoni, mushrooms, Italians seasoning, and pizza sauce. Of course you can choose what you like for yours. Try to keep the "juicy" stuff to a minimum to reduce leaks. And don't get carried away with the amount of ingredients. Otherwise they're really hard to roll up and tend to vent all over the fryer.
INGREDIENTS:
(Per snack roll)
1 8 inch Flour Tortilla
1 TBS store bought Pizza Sauce (wuff used Great Value brand)
4-5 slices Pepperoni
1 slice Salami sausage
4-6 slices of canned sliced mushrooms
1-2 TBS grated Italian Cheese mixture
1 sandwich slice of Mozzarella cheese
Dash of Italian Seasoning
1 squirt of cooking oil non-stick spray
DIRECTIONS:
Warm the tortilla in a microwave for about 15 seconds to make if more flexible. Lay it on a paper towel on the counter before you to catch any squirts of sauce as you roll it
Spread the tablespoon of pizza sauce on the bottom 1/3 of the tortilla. Leave about 1/2 inch empty on either side to fold the tortilla over
NOTE: Don't use too much sauce. Lightly is the word! Otherwise it builds up as you roll the tortilla up and squirts out the top edge
Wuff settled on this order of the ingredients after experimenting. Others, like laying the slice of cheese down first, tended to make the sauce squish out of the roll more
Shingle a row of pepperoni slices across the bottom of the tortilla, about 1/4 of the way up. Leave about 1/2 inch space on either side to fold the tortilla over
Lay a slice of salami on the tortilla with the bottom edge touching the bottom of the tortilla
Sprinkle the grated cheese over the salami
Lay of row of 4-5 mushroom slices over the cheese at about the same placement as the pepperoni slices. Don't forget to leave space at the edges.
Lay the slice of mozzarella cheese on top of it all, with the bottom corners touching the bottom edge of the tortilla
Sprinkle a light dust of Italian Seasoning mix over all
Fold the edges in and crease them all the way to the top
Holding the edges in places with your pinkies, use your thumbs and forefingers to firmly roll up the snack tortilla from the bottom. Make sure the edges stay tucked under as best you cant to keep things from leaking out the sides in the fryer. Set it seam-side down to keep that edge in place
Set your fryer to 390F and run it for a minute or 2 to preheat
Spray a light coat of the oil cooking spray over the top and sides of the rolled up pizza snack
CAREFULLY place it in the preheated air fryer. If making more than one (you'll want to - YUM!), make sure you leave enough space between for air circulation
Air Fry at 390 for 7-8 minutes. When the timer reaches 3 minutes left, using a pair of tongs, CAREFULLY (HOT! HOT!) turn your rolls upside down to cook the bottom side. Return to fryer and finish cooking time
Using tongs, remove the snack roll to a serving plate. Allow to rest a minute or so after removing to allow the volcano heat cheese inside to cool to less blistering levels

Oh sweet! I think my sweetheart will like these. She broke down and got a small air-frier she loves playing with it see what she can come up with.
Glad to offer the inspiration!
Wuffy has been making quite a few variations of these at work. Just did an "All American Hotdog" one today. Dog, relish, onion, "burger sauce", and a bit of cheese. Wanted to try a "kraut dog" version, but was all out of sauerkraut. Wuff's also got small diced ham for Ham & Cheese rolls, and a bit of leftover pulled pork for a BBQ roll.
One could really create a "roll your own" buffet with these for a party. Offer all sorts of fillings and let the guests choose their tasty treat, then roll it up for them (or let them roll if their REALLY want to get hands-on) and serve with s choice of dipping sauces. Would only take around 10-12 minutes to make a batch, which would be fine for serving while keeping the party conversation going.

*chuckles* Oh, Vrghr suspects you could! You've had lots of practice, after all. *grin*
They're quite the popular appliance these days. Wuff's gotta say that the ChefMaker is a great choice, though it is well up on the expensive end of the scale. But it includes a lot of options others don't.
However, if you have a convection oven or even just a counter-top toaster oven, you could still create these. You'd just need to experiment a bit with time and temp. Wuff would start at 375F and maybe 12-15 minutes, turning over about 2/3 of the way done. Maybe a bit slower and more "hands-on" but still pretty quick and would create a great treat.

And wuff doesn't blame it. *grins*
These were SO much better than those hot pocket and pizza rolls from the store. So much more fillings. Great snacks or a couple to make a nice meal. And so quick and easy too!
Wuff's not likely to be buying those store options in the future!
Oh, and really nice to hear from you! *HUGS*

Better late than never!
Luckily, these babies cook up so fast, you can have them hot and fresh in minutes even if you come in after the first serving.
