Satan Rose was the third Monster to face Giant Robo in the 3rd Episode of the series, "Space Plant, Satan Rose". Another Satan Rose will sprout in the 17th Episode of Giant Robo.
Appearance: When first sprouting, the monster looks like a snapping trap, but as it grows fast, it begins to resemble a Palm tree with a far wider trunk, with leafs and vines on top – the vines contain flowers in its tips – and would walks on in its roots for feet, and sport a tail. Among the foliage on top, a main tentacle would sprang out from the heart of it, this was likely the monster's real face.
The Monster was yellow, brown and green in color scheme, and its roar was a crying moan
Abilities: Satan Rose is capable of Rapid Growth once it begins to sprout. Opening its Flowers vines, it could generated Telekinetic field or release a yellow pollen that could disorient the Robot.
Weakness: High Voltage Electricity.
_History_
Guillotine sends his lackey, Dr. Over, to conquer Japan and from it begin the conquest of Earth. For it he kidnaps a Elder Botanist named Dr. Yasui (with help of Spider?) for his skills in the field, leaving his Granddaughter Yoshihiko behind.
Okay! How the fuck did this Nippon son of a Schultz-waffle survived the last round? He essentially had a Spiked Steel Beach Ball the size of a building falling over the damn car ... WITH HIM IN IT!!!
Taken to the BF hideout (a Chemical Sphere Tank) Yasui is deliver meteorite to work with, which he immediately recognizes for what it is – the seed of the Satan Rose – and he refuses, forcing Over to take the Botanist to the Rotoblade Scalpel for a Lobotomy reprogramming. Meanwhile, Yoshihiko tries to field a kidnapping report, though is not believe by the Cop. She then stumbles on Daisaku and Minami, almost getting rammed by their cab; she explains the situation and report the disappearance.
Why was that man wearing a uniform and badge? Shouldn't be anywhere near a regulated police firearm.
Yasui, now lobotomize (though Over states the effect will be for a time), begins to work in the on the chemical compound to revive Satan Rose (likely Four Loko) – then season it with Red Whine and Roast it in the oven.
Very well, that's a unique way to Prep, Seasoned and Roast a Turkey, but what the hell does it have to do with making a Plant Monster?
Back in Unicorn HQ, Minami and Daisuku are fill in from the Canadian Branch of Unicorn of Dr. Over's arrival in Japan, and the two of them report of the Botanist's kidnapping, suspecting a connection and Azuma orders them to investigate the matter and talk to Yoshihiko, where they come to learn of his work on Satan Rose just as Yasui succeeds in sprouting the Seed.
Later Spider and his men, disguise as Florists, put the Monster Sprout in a Restaurant where it begins to grow, terrifying the patrons and staff. At the hideout, more Satan Rose seeds are delivered to Yasui when he returns back to normal, and tries to destroy them but is stop. Not long after, Dr. Over returns to Yasui's home and steals his Documents from the hands of U3 and U7 and teleports away.
Yasui face suddenly pops out from his office pops out of his office wall and collapses, then been taken to the Hospital Dr. Over then televises his ultimatum of surrender to Japan as Satan Rose emerges from a building; Commander Azuma contact Minami and Daisaku who fly to the action.
Of all the jump of sequences from those three paragraphs I just wrote, the doc popping out of the wall without even breaking it beyond his face size hole was the most random ass thing about this episode. Needless to say, it doesn't seem to have been written that well.
As the monster destroy the Downtown area, it stood its ground against the JSDF tanks by lifting and tossing cars at them with its Telekinetic powers – Daisaku calls for Giant Robo who flies to the disaster area and faces Satan Rose head on, however, its Finger Rockets and Megaton Punch prove useless; Satan Rose then releases its pollen which begins to disorient the Robot, allowing the monster to grappled it with its vines. It then begins to destroy buildings and buries Robo. In the Hospital near by, Yasui awakens from his comatose state and provides the Weakness to the Monster's weakness – High Voltage Electricity.
Noticing a High Voltage Transformer station near by, Daisaku orders Giant Robo to kick it; been in contact with it, Satan Rose is fry alive by the release of Electricity onto its body, exploding to pieces. Giant Robo rise victorious.
The heroes fly back to base, while Over gets berated by Guillotine.
Moral of the Story: Apparently drugging Grandpa makes him come out of the walls.

Yes.
Considering how Ultra Q influence many Tokusatsu Genre shows later down the line, I wouldn't be surprise they got inspired in that episode to come up with Satan Rose.

* murrs and has been loving your ideas and breakdown of this fabulously enjoyable "robo / monster" battle series..*
I own the series myself on DVD, so I can provide a tiny bit of insight too.. hehee.
1 - how did the " son of a Schultz-waffle " survive the car crashing smush...
" truly bitching airbag system on car" ( it's a stable in most "Recurring Villain Contracts )
2 - As per the seasoning, I can only guess that it's likely an "evil villain recipe for disaster.. I mean red whine and roast in an oven? You don't roast a plant monster.. you *BAKE* it.. takes a bit longer but it lets the plant soak up the alcohol to make it more savage.. sheesh.. these evil villain cooks nowadays.. (( either that or they caught the writer while he was making lunch and demanded him to finish that script page.. so he "improvised"... )
3 - if Grandpa comes up with a hair brained recipe for cooking an evil plant monster, then Grampa is on some SERIOUS 60's psychedelic medication..
and he ain't sharing!
(( an didn't this giant plant beastie make a RETURN engagement as some kind of new " Evil Vine" or somethin.. I distinctly remember it having a massive, tooth filled MAW too.. because Robo shot rockets into the mouth after he'd cooled it down when he flooded the lakebed where it was rooted.

In regards to 3 - Imagine the mushrooms he cooks up in his lab XD
*SNIRKS* " It's a homemade mushroom pizza you just can't get anywhere else!!"
Oh, you have that series too! In fact, it did return in episode 17 "Destroy the Dam", one of my personal favorite episodes since it does a good job of building up the threat of Satan Rose.
Ever notice how most Plant kaiju tend to be more threatening than a lot of their animal-based counterparts? Green Mons and Keronia from Ultraman; Alien Weil from Ultra Seven; Gijera from Ultraman Tiga, Kinokurages from Fireman (I know, fungus, but some would still count it), and Bios from Ultraman Great
AND if you want to be really mean.. consider Biolantie from the movie Godzilla VS Biollante.. this was a mutant cross between a plant and godzilla cells scavenged from a battle site when the japanese army was trying to drive the beast off from stomping around, and through the film series the weapons have been slowly getting better and better, now being able to actually inflict injury on the Big G himself..
A doctor got some of the cells to work with as he was trying to find a way to splice them with a plant and then use that to help his injured daughter ( the only family he had left ) and the end result was a mutant creature easily as big as godzilla himself, but with a reptilian maw like a super alligator on steroids, and hardened plant "spiked roots" that could EASILY puch into godzilla's otherwise nigh-impenetrable hide..
In the end of the movie, the creature basically took to space.. so "TECHNICALLY" it's still out there... evolving somehow.. and could possibly be brought back for the MonsterVerse and most recent godzilla film universe in general..
Or so " I " ( for one ) hope it / she will be!

I wanted to mention my favorite Heisei era Godzilla film, but felt it was a little too obvious. Wanted to focus on the more obscure.
Obscure can be FUN, especially as it helps to remember these old classics that lots of us "older furs" grew up with!
